That little sliver of hope was fading and fading fast.
I'd first read the book in fourth grade, at the suggestion of my teacher, but I hadn't seen the movie until recently. I'm ignoring many places I found were closed or abandoned or not-updating since the Macintosh era.
The Computer Lab Technician's design is based on Simon Petrikov from Adventure time. I'll spare you the details of how I convinced him to let me through.
Two things surprised me about the computer lab: one, how it was designed so that, when you walk in, you don't see a single computer, not even the lab tech gets one. And two, how is it no one in this school seemed to be doing their job (except the math teacher)?!
Not all the computers had those table legs in the way, I think the tech just hated me that much that he gave me the most uncomfortable computer he could.
