the space is intimidating, in a good way. not only light/dark contrast, but also size (between figure and "space") i personally like it.

That's cool. You like big backdrops for your characters, huh? Me? I'm actually kind of scared of big open places for my drawings. I'm what I've coined as a compulsive detailist. But detail comes with a price for me. You have to do things small and then make them bigger. Otherwise, you end up with too much free space and not enough focus on the work you've done. Now, I am not saying that it happened here but rather asking, aren't you a bit worried about too much open space or background? I wanted to say I really respect your art. It intrigues me and befuddles me when I try to comprehend the deeper meaning. To this point, I thought that couldn't be done. You live and you learn, I guess. I'm looking forward to the next piece...

but um.. I just like big spaces in my pictures. I wouldn't neccesarily call them spaces though.. because it's all how you see it. I see it as a space filled with unspoken emotion, others just see it as something blank. And then again, it's sort of hard to put a lot of detail into a photomanipulation, I'm still learning, myself!

Noooo, I wasn't saying that I thought it was bad offrnything. I was just mmenting on how it seemed you liked open spaces. There is definitelty nothing wrong with that.
