well this was supposed to be a quick doodle for in between assignments but it ended up as more than that since it will still be awhile before I get another one(for that matter I might even start a few of my own projects)The concept here is basically what would of happened if the northmen hadn't come to Kells. I made Aisling slightly older because I feel the general idea behind her is that her human appearance is the way it is in the movie for Brendan's sake. All other times she is shown it is as an adult animal: wolf, deer, fish. I feel that although she is a very old creature Aisling is curious as to what humans exactly are. For Brendan, since he is young and her first HUMAN contact, it makes sense that her appearance would change to suit his, hence their being slightly older-aisling's outfit change for one too.
I learned a bit of celtic knotwork for this! I'm especially proud of the borders which may or may not be acurate... not too sure there...

I love how you gave this a more realistic feel but still kept hints of the stylized animation from the movie, like the heavy outlines around the characters and the Celtic knotting of the tree. I love the tree in particular - it was what caught my eye when I was scrolling through the pictures on the main feed and made me stop and click to get a closer look. The intricacy is absolutely amazing!
Great portrayal of the characters and the contrast between them - the "earthy humanness" of Brendan and that ethereal otherworldliness of Aisling with the colors, the poses, the shading. I particularly like the shading job on Aisling - don't know exactly how to describe it, but the shading almost makes her look like she's flickering, like she's not quite as corporal as Brendan, especially on her face and her hair.
I like the idea of Aisling adjusting her form to Brendan. This piece and her pose really get across that curiosity she has for humans. I like how she's looking at Brendan's face rather than at his drawing as one would expect - it's like she finds Brendan and his emotions and expressions more fascinating than whatever he's working on
Really, really lovely work that was obviously created with a great deal of love and care. Thanks so much for sharing!

Funny thing I just saw this movie today on Netflix totally on a whim and it was an incredible movie! first class example of serendipity. and this piece is very nice. And yes I believe that Aisling would change as Brendan got older. A nice what if scenario and very nicely detailed.

I wrote a story inspired by this. I stayed up late almost every night working on it. It took me two months to finish the rough draft...
And then my mom threw it away.
Did she apologize? No! she said it was my fault for leaving it out, and it was so crumpled up that it looked like a piece of trash anyway.
If you go to my house you'll see that none of my artwork is on the wall. All thrown out.

Definitely my favorite Secret of Kells fanart thus far. Man, lots of work put into this.. I can tell! So much detail! You're very talented. Everything about this is unique. Such a different take on the characters yet still expressed so well. Keep up the great stuff!

Some one told me at the end of the movie that she lost her human form and was supposed to be a wolf for the rest of her life but i was like "where did you get that from?" but i guess some of it makes sense.

Thanks, I got the idea from the film; if you pay attention you can see that some of the trees have celtic knots sort of carved into them for one or two shots with brandon and aislin so I went for that, only making them look grown into the tree...
