In the 1987 TMNT cartoon, Splinter never calls the turtles "my sons" and the turtles never call him father.I wanted them to say "My sons" "Father".

Do we ever know why they never called each other "My sons"/"Father"? I've never seen the 1987 version so I was curious. Plus I started wondering when, in Turtles Forever, the 1987 TMNT think it's weird that the 2K3 TMNT were referring to Sensei as their father.

It does make sense that it's the 2003 versions that guides the 1987-turtles to answar since they meet the in "Turtles Forever" where noticed the difference themselves..

I'm using an Army computer trying my hardest not to squee. I love all three cartoon incarnations, but the way the original cartoon had everyone as 'students' and 'friends' kind of bugged me.

It reminds me of the animated movie that came out in like.... 2004...? Anyways, its called Turtles Forever. It has the 1987 turtles, the 2003
turtles, and the comic book turtles along with their own Shredder

The expressions of the Original Four are wonderful.

Yeah, that never occurred to me when I was younger. In the first episode, he called them his "young friends." I always loved the father-son relationship, especially in the new show. You can really feel the love there.
