In the 1987 TMNT cartoon, Splinter never calls the turtles "my sons" and the turtles never call him father.I wanted them to say "My sons" "Father".

I love this. And its true, the only time I ever heard Splinter call them his Sons or Kids was in the live action movie. Once during the meditation scene and once in the end after he kills Shredder. THIS art is awesome and there needs to be more of it.

I noticed that too about the 1987 cartoon. I also wanted to call each other brothers more often as well. But I liked how you conveyed that Splinter was almost afraid to call them his sons. It makes me think more about their relationship in the old cartoon, as if Splinter thought of them as his sons, but couldn't say it out loud because he was human.

Well actually, there were a few times when Splinter did call the turtles his sons, but yeah, the turtles never called him Father. But it was rare even when he did call them his sons.
