Just keep attempting. Every single image you do is a learning experience and eventually, upon looking back over your portfolio, you'll discover that each image is better than the one that came before in some manner. I recommend researching photography, especially the lighting aspect of it. Also, learn a few image doctoring techniques in Photoshop.
