Lol did you find this one on a road. I always insist the car stops so I can hold the tarantuala if he is strolling across the road...

this is such a beautiful photo!
I'm always stunned at how many people are afraid of or dislike tarantulas - I think they're incredibly elegant creatures, and you've definitely captured that with this photo.
(I had a baby rosie that just died recently - my first tarantula, too. It's amazing that people can be so frightened of creatures that are so fragile.)
good work, and a definite +fav.

Thank you very much. I was very fortunate to catch this tarantula while he was doing his thing. We don't have them where i'm from and i couldn't get enough. I think i shot nearly 200 photos of this guy so i was bound to get one worth a darn. I was very happy to get a chance to touch one in the wild...but i made sure not to bother him.

That is one of the most beautiful tarantula pics I have ever seen. I have been a collector for 20 yrs and have seen many pics. Beautiful shot. I know it was a male but do u know what breed it was?

Thank you very much, it means a lot to me to have the opinion of someone that knows something about tarantulas...i on the other hand know very little...which means that i am clueless when it comes to the breed. Sorry.

Thank you. I find that i am facinated by spiders as subjects, not so much when i don't have my camera....maybe because after i capture the photo i can analyse and really get to see what they are made up of without them trying to climb on me and my stuff...because then i have to squish them and that just makes a mess.

lol, I would love to have a tarantula as a pet and have them crawl on me, but I agree... squished tarantulas make a HUGE NASTY mess XD

I used to have a tarantula in D.C., When I heard that I was moving to arizona, I was so thrilled that My tarantula "Harry Eyes Legs" was finally going to be in the desert. when I got to arizona, My tarantula died, cures the fruiting irony. I hate it.

Thanks a lot. Judging by your gallery, you'd do really well with an eight legged model!
