There's something about that aesthetic that I appreciate. Hard to describe.

My guess is that the effort the brain does to translate that lots and lots of squares in circles, legs, peoples, etc. give us this visual pleasure. That happens too when the artist uses a more "sketchy" finishing in its art. Frank Frazetta or John Singer Sargent are good examples of this effect.
