I think what I enjoy about this is that, despite the fantastical nature of the creatures and setting, their adventures are actually pretty normal. They look at nature. Go into caves. Rough house. It's very interesting.

Reminds me a little of the ending to The Neverending Story where the kid is flying around on that creature's back.
