Very cool looking mate - good overall scene setup and disposition with poses, expression, etc... and the smoking "faststart" on the running critter really does the trick!

How hard is it create backgrounds like this in C4D? I downloaded the trial version of v10 and it becomes quite unstable just by loading a single Poser figure, crashing quite often. I also noticed I could not select body parts directly from the model for posing - I have to use the tree view for that indirectly. It looks harder than I antecipated...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Fredy3D In reply to ken1171 [2007-03-07 22:38:20 +0000 UTC]

I am still with 9.5 which is rocksolid. I am waiting for the first Update for V10 before I even consider updating...

The background is quite easy to create (routine)... The problem is, that everything has to be setup manually. Each tree, plant etc. has to be positioned as you like, there no distribution algorithm like the ecosystem in Vue.

I am still doing most of the posing work in Poser and exporting as obj into c4d. But posing with interposer in C4D is more or less the same like in poser, select a body part or the dials... But if you have an established workflow it is difficult to chance...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to Fredy3D [2007-03-07 23:06:33 +0000 UTC]

In that case, it might had been easier to use Vue to compose your scene - because the updated v6 now allows automatic distributions by simply painting your objects with a brush. As opposed to v5, now each EchoSystem2 object is still editable as an independant model. Painting the grass, trees and stones would had been quite quick, I guess.

Maybe I had a rather bad experience with C4D R10 because it is still not stable. Besides that my only complaint would be that I couldn't select body parts to edit directly from the model, having to do it indirectly through the tree view. That takes longer and people who don't know the Poser skeleton part names convention will have trouble figuring out things.

I was impressed by how efficient the renderer was, by constantly subdividing the image into halves to use every second of processor time to optimize the rendering time. That was how Poser 7 was supposed to be, but unfortunately when one thread ends, it just stops and wastes processor time from that on.

Using Vue + Poser has been my best alternative for quality renders, but Vue does not allow changes to Poser models once they are imported, and keeping both programs opened at the same time often results into running out of memory. T_T

I still couldn't convince myself to buy Vue Inf... I really like to have ecosystem but I like the render speed and quality and the modeller in C4D since I do a lot of clothes modifications inside C4D... you can't have it all, right?

ken1171 In reply to Fredy3D [2007-03-08 08:39:52 +0000 UTC]

Not only that but Vue is *not* a modeling application, so I still keep my 3DSMAX in hands. So Vue is not a substitute for your C4D by all means. ^^
