This is a map I find on alternatehistory.com by Nerdlinger . This map is his creation and all rights to it go to him.The map details the situation of the Second Great War right before Operation Coalscuttle: the Confederate drive to Pittsburgh. In North America, the Ohio corridor had been a relative stalemate with the exception of some small-scale attacks and counterattacks by both sides. In northern Virginia, the US drive on Richmond has been halted, while veteran Confederate divisions from that front, as well as throughout the country, are being redeployed to Ohio for Coalscuttle. Utah (the parts retaken by the US Army) is under martial law, while the US Army is slowly but bloodily driving the Mormon Rebels back to Salt Lake City. Canada remains quiet...
In Europe, western Germany is under Anglo-French occupation, with the British stuck outside Hamburg. The British have momentarily held their gains in Norway only by their teeth. French forces have been unable to cross the Rhine and push directly to Berlin. The only real progress made by the Entente in on the Eastern Front, with Russian forces occupying roughly half of Ukraine, Finland, and the Baltic states, while forces in Poland are threatening Warsaw and East Prussia. However, the Russians are using the exact same tactic from the last war: confront the enemy head-on with frontal assaults, which has granted them horrendous casualties.
In the Far East, the naval conflict between the US and Japan has been relatively inactive since the capture of Midway. The Japanese are also pushing westward in China, but no one really cares.
