Description This map I found mostly details what I think should've happened in North America in the years after the end of Harry Turtledove's "Southern Victory Series." After World War II, the United States admitted all former Confederate States and almost all former English-speaking Canadian provinces into the Union, as well as all previous British possessions in the continent. The Republic of Texas, which seceded from the Confederacy in the last days of the war, eventually rejoined the Union as well, either voluntarily or forcefully (given the fact that the Republic was essentially a US satellite, the latter is more likely), and also reunited with the state of Houston. The US apparently purchased Puerto Rico from Spain, which remained a Spanish colony well into the 20th Century. Cuba, meanwhile, was granted independence from the former Confederacy. Quebec was given Newfoundland and Labrador, and some islands part of our world Nunavut, as a reward for their contribution in the war, despite being formally neutral. This included providing troops to help garrison Anglo-Canada and help stomp out the rebellion there and, according to Timeline 191: Filling the Gaps, forming a volunteer division to fight alongside the US in the Confederate Deep South. Lastly, the US provided the Mormons with what they wanted along: their own country. They did so by deporting them from Utah to Chihuahua and Sonora, where they formed the Republic of Arizona, which also consisted of Baja California, ceded from Mexico.

While most of the map is how would have it, there are some things I would want to do differently. First off, I would rather stick with the original plan of deporting the Mormons to the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) as stated in Timeline 191: After the End. Sonora and Chihuahua should've been returned to Mexico in order to hasten the reestablishing of good relations with the country, while the population of the two states would have three choices: a) they could immigrate to the US, which includes former Confederate states and Canadian provinces, if they don't want to be Mexicans, given that country's somewhat impoverished economy and infrastructure; b) given their heritage, they could immigrate to other Latin American countries; and c) they could remain there and live as Mexicans. Second, I think that Quebec is given too much land in this map. I think that they should be given Newfoundland and Labrador and that's it. The Anglo population of those former provinces would be permitted to immigrate to other English-speaking countries, which is likely since many Canadians were still not reconciled to living as Americans at that time, and so they would surely not want to live as Quebecois and have to learn French. Lastly, I might have had the pre-War of Secession (Civil War) state boundaries of former Confederate states restored in order to help reconcile former Confederates to living under the Stars and Stripes again. This would include Arkansas reclaiming the northeast portion of the state ceded to Missouri after World War I, while West Virginia would reunite with Virginia.

I definitely think, given how virulently violent and hateful the Mormons got in that series (I've read through the Great War, but have the general gist of the rest of the series) that giving them their own country would be interesting, if only to see where it got them in the future.
