Actually every year during Thailand Songkran Festival, the Thai resident & local people did celebrated splashing water around Penang Sleeping Buddha area & at night they go to Gurney Drive seaside putting hundreds of paper lotus with a candle.....floating to open sea.
At the water festival, you can see mant kind of different culture even Indian with sari join the fun !

Ah, yeah I did hear from a friend that Songkran is even celebrated in Perlis and Kedah too

That's why the shops seem to sell huge, huge waterguns
