Description
SEE EDIT AT BOTTOM!!!Sweet! My first attempt at mixed media. I used 's technique of watercolor and prismacolor pencil (I absolutely adore her technique, it's leaves such gorgeous and vibrant results) and this is what I came up with! I've never cared for watercolors, but I'm not gonna lie, it was fun to do. And the watercolors are great for blending these pencils too! Really surprised me.
The picture is kinda grainy and not so good. Stupid technology.
About this piece:
Size: 11" x 14"
Paper: Bristol Board
Watercolors and Prismacolor pencils
Time: 3 hours
How do you guys like it? I don't want to steal rachaelm's technique, but I do like it very much! I think she pulls it off better than I do though.
Thanks for looking! Oh, I used a reference for the tree-frog.
Edit: THIS PIECE IS FOR SALE! If you are interested in purchasing this piece, please note me for more information. Matting and frame will be purchased and added to the overall cost of the piece. Thanks!
Also, I changed the picture to make the watercolors stand out more. They are now more like the actual colors, but still a little off.

Steal. This. Technique.
Isn't it fun? I love the way that watercolor adds some texture to the background, as well as fills in all of that annoying white space. Your colored pencil-work is so vibrant, too! What a great subject to test this out upon.

The best critique of them all! From the maker of the most wonderful technique.
It really is the best, I love it. Thanks for letting me use it.

It actually does seem to stand out quite nicely, almost in a neon-type way. The watercolours add a gorgeous flow to the background which seems to work nicely against the prismacolours because in my mind, a background done in prismas as well would end up looking quite harsh. This way, there's a nifty balance going on and it lets the frog actually stand out more.
Cheers,
-LS

What pencils did you use? I know that some are wax-based and cannot be blended with water.
Very beautiful btw.

Prismacolors. I don't know what they are, it says they are soft lead thick colored pencils.
Thanks!

It's an interesting technique. Certainly more interesting than just prismas alone, although it doesn't seem as vibrant to me... is that just the picture quality?

That's just the picture quality... I know... it sucks.
