IMO, one of the best villains we've had in awhile.Β Not god-tier superbeing, but still powerful enough that they could have possibly taken over all of Equestria, given time.Β One of the most dangerous, too o_O

I can tell you one thing. If Starlight is made to be just another villain-of-the-week to defeat, let alone with the "magic of friendship," I'm probably gonna call it quits with MLP FIM after the season ends.
I see Starlight as the kind of character that has a lot of potential to bring about a different kind of theme to the show, and for character development.

I don't think they'll try to do that, I hope they don't execute the finale also (if you look on my journals, you'll see my thoughts)...otherwise, fans may have something real to complain about, rather than some stupid thing about Twilight getting wings and such.
One thing I can tell you though is Starlight does NOT deserve any redemption at all, IMO.

I looked at the title of your journal, but since I'm the kind of person who avoids spoilers as much as possible (unless if I deem it absolutely necessary), I decide not to read anything.
Without giving away too much information, did you actually see some things in the Season 5 finale sketches that made you think that Starlight is not worthy of redemption?

Yes, I believe I did (though I only glimpsed at it).
I don't really hate Starlight as much as I do now though, that unfortunately would go to Radiant Hope from the recent main comic series. While I have faith in the show's writers, I don't in the comics'. You'll see my thoughts in my journal of #35.

You know, now that you mention, I'm actually hoping that Starlight will still be seen as someone who will still choose NOT to repent for her actions. The things that fascinates me about her, is that her extremist actions are so interesting as a contrast to e theme of he show, that I think it would feel anti-climatic if she suddenly reformed.
In fact, even though it's inevitable that she'll lose, I would much rather see her going down fighting, still holding on to her belief. And in a way, she would still win in some way, because it would have Twilight and the rest of the gang come to terms, that some people just don't want to change, or maybe even be saved.
