Description
When I draw "normal people"; background characters, I always make sure to not make them feel fully generic and uninteresting, rather hoping to make people who aren't in the story seem as real and interesting as the main characters.
Videogames, ironically, brought this to mind; with Goat Simulator, or the FFVII remake, the background characters will often look like nobody at all, which makes the game world feel hollow and fictional. This is the intent with Goat Simulator, of course, but for a more serious project, simply going outside to a public park, subway train, or convenience store, and taking impressions of the people whom you see there, is much better for "Realism" than merely making what you think of other people as being. "Realism" in Art doesn't have to be about aesthetic style, but rather about how *lived in* and close to experience a work feels, hence an early 70's Bakshi film or a highly sketchy Monet painting feeling more "Real" than a live-action MCU piece or an early 19th century Academy painting.
The interior above is mostly referenced from the Malatestiana Library in Italy, which is the oldest still-operating public library on Earth.
