  As of late, I've been playing the original Demon's Souls. What wonders complete creative autonomy can do!

The point where I stopped enjoying it, and started adoring it, would probably be the encounter with the Monumental.   In the Nexus, there's an attic filled with dead children. One of them is alive, and tells you exactly why the Soul Arts are so dangerous.

  The Monumental (don't know what gender to call the Monumental) I take to be the first example of the "Autistic Child" stock character, that encompassing Souls persons like Kuro, Gael's niece, the Divine Child, etc. I am far, far from understanding Demon's Souls, but playing it makes all of Miyazaki's other games that bit more charming.
