Description Finally, the last of the main Sailor Moon inspired bots. I don't think I had too much trouble with her, unlike Mercury and Mars, but maybe I was just tired of working on them, and so didn't think too hard? Or like the original doodles well enough (like with Jupiter).

edit: Venus had a sword in the manga, so I made her "bow" the hilt, and her "hair" the blade.

The top picture of Venus is so cute! I like her funny mouth, too. This one is a really great translation into a robotic design and I liked how you handled the sword. It's very clever! She really does look dangerous in the last image!

Thanks! I really liked the top venus too, ended up copying and pasting her head into the group shop, then tracing it. Too worn out by then to draw it again from scratch, especially since it was already exactly what I needed (facing the right direction and everything, just needed to pivot and enlarge to make it just right).

It's a shame she didn't get a sword in the anime, but there were a lot of things in the manga I would have liked to see in the anime. Yay dangerousness! That's what the Autobot elite guard wanted in the ranks, right? Aft-kickers! That last one what fun to draw.

I don't think it's cheating if what you trace is your own work and it sounds like there really was no need to do it twice.

I enjoy both the anime and the manga, but I feel the manga is more beautiful and romantic. I really need to complete my collection- of the new editions, I only have up to volume three!

Not quite sure what the Elite Guard will make of these femmes. They may inadvertently turn the army on its head!

I agree, though there are bits of the anime I love that aren't in the manga, and vice versa. Such as Yuuichiro working at the shrine, and some of the villians turning good in the anime (the four sisters in R, and the Amazon Trio in SuperS... though I didn't care for those three dying), and the four generals in the first season being Endimion's equivalents of Serenity's senshi, and showing up now and then in spirit, that was wonderful, if sad. Can't go on with the manga bits I wish were in the anime, I'd go on too long. I'm just glad I'm able to enjoy them both as separate entities, unlike with some adaptations of other things out there. Can't wait to see what the new anime is like, and hope it also is able to stand on it's own like those two.

How do the new ones compare with the old ones? I have the old ones, though I haven't looked at them in years.

I never warmed to Yuuichiro, so I haven't felt his absence in the manga, but I do find it interesting that the villains don't get second chances in the manga. The anime had the time to flesh them out, whereas they're almost monsters of the week in the manga.

The four generals being the senshi equivalents for Endymion was in the manga, not the anime (although it does come up in the SNES game "Sailor Moon: Another Story", which is based on the anime).

It's hard for me to judge no longer having the old ones, but going on memory, the newer ones have more issues per volume and are printed on higher quality paper. Also, this translation does not opt for dub names but uses the Japanese ones. It also has translation notes in the back which explain some of the culture references and choices- the notes aren't very extensive, but they're a nice little addition. Oh, yeah, and they read from right to left! No panel flipping!
