Description
Just thought it would be fun to put these together. I think the one on the left was the first lineless picture I ever did, and the one on the right is how they look now.2007/2012
I will forever suck at feet, it seems...

I would say that a positive change in the feet you're drawing now is the curve you've added to them rather than ,aking the heel as pointy as it is back in 2007, even though pointy feet can work sometimes depending on what you're going for. The subtle differences in your usage of outlines on characters and skin colouring really show improvement and add a lot of character to what you draw now. I especially love how since 2007 you've grown to use more textures in drawings to give that better feel to the colouring work. Hair looks a lot more natural now as well!
Don't worry about having weaknesses in specific areas as long as you feel you can keep improving on them, you'll feel better about drawing certain things eventually. If anything, just be thankful you aren't Rob Liefeld.

I like the changes your character's undergone C: And you don't suck at feet >:I
If you want to improve it, start doodling feet in the margins of all your notes - that's what I've started doing

You can make it fun by drawing big feet on small tiny stick bodies? And the way you draw feet now isn't bad, just not highly detailed.

Ahahheeeh... I did tutorials of crappy stuff before... years ago... and looking back on them now I don't think I'd want to do one again. I'm really no good at explaining things...

I completely understand, tutorials can be surprisingly time-consuming. Can I ask two questions about the drawing, for personal edification?
1) How did you get that subtle, cute texture on just the dress?
and
2) The hair in the second one looks like it has subtle gradients in it, did you use a soft brush tool or a gradient tool to achieve that effect? And did you just brush in the highlights?

Sure of course! I don't mind answering direct questions at all, so if ever you have one feel free to ask.
1) The dress was on its own layer, separate even to the ribbon. When the layer was locked, I selected the dress and used the 'paste into' option so the texture would ONLY be applied to the dress.
2) Yep! I used a faint gradient effect and just drew the lines and shines on it myself. The highlights were also smudged with a small brush on high smudge setting, so it would look more... uh... hairy?

Improvement, yes?
Spectacular?
Muy mucho.
But I like the feet.
I suppose what I like best from the imporovement is in the face and the eyes...
plus the fact you make me want to be a fashion designer too...:I

As egotistical as it sounds, I'm actually quite pleased as well. I mean, of course it's nowhere near perfect, but still... I love looking back on old stuff and being really happy I have in fact, improved a bit.

Not egotistical in the least. Well I don't know perfect, it depends on the artist themselves..
but id it got even more doubly awesome later on...well I would just be pleased, to keep it sane.
I wish i had that positivity...I look back..but I really just laugh then cry. :I Weird.

Yeah, for some reason a lot of people I've spoken to cringe when they see old stuff, and they hate it. I cringe too, but then I'm glad that I don't draw like that anymore.
