I got recently, a crude reminder of all I'd been through some years ago when I had to escape a very abusive, destructive relationship. The madman turned into a deranged stalker thereafter and it seems he's not quite over his shenanigans just quite yet. I would have hoped so many years later it would just, absolve itself, but very sick and twisted individuals rarely do. So I was thinking about how it feels like to be fleeing such abuse and violence, and this image came to mind - a rabbit (that I've always identified myself with) that is fleeing the fire. Staying calm and dignified, even through the lowest points.

The important thing is getting away from the blazing flames of the hell that such sick individuals make their victims live in. Your life starts then and there, when you realize, it CAN get better, you don't have to get burned to death, it's hard to flee when there's flames all around you but it is possible, even if it might cause you burns, scars, physical pain.. Your life starts,when you realize you only got this one life, and it's not worth wasting another minute with someone who is a leach on your time, your mental and physical health, your money, your life, sucking it right out of you.

That anecdote of the frog cooking slowly is soooo true; the one you know, with putting a frog in a casserole of cold water and slowly upping the heat, the frog doesn't even realize its cooking until it's too late. Luckily it's not always too late...
I only have one regret about leaving that relationship - that is, that I didn't find the strenght to leave sooner. But then again better late than never, plus, life did have amazing things in store for me for the years to come, and for nearly 5 years now I've finally gotten to know what real, non toxic love feels like, and darn, what actual happiness feels like. That's what a feeling I didn't know before..... and I didn't know one can love a person even more with time. So happy end for this bunny.... I wish that upon every victim of domestic violence, abuse and victims of stalkers. As they say the worst vengeance you can enact on someone that has severely wronged you, is by being happy and living your best life, and I second that... it seems to trigger that hellish monster, that lives in the dark. Will be fun to see what he comes up with next. I'm not afraid anymore

The drawing is with museum aquarelle colored pencils on black A4 paper. First time in my life that I draw fire. It's not as easy as I'd think...
The piece itself is not necessairly a technical masterpiece but it's more like a "feelings journal drawing", making feelings into artistic expression.
