OliverB's photos never cease to amaze me this one really, like really, caught my eye such a beautiful capture of one of my most beloved birds. When the male blackbird starts singing, every year, I feel like hope coming back pumping through my veins. All those years where hope seemed gone, that one bird song always brought something back to me.

I've been wanting to draw a blackbird for some time but didn't really come across any photos that really inspired me - it takes a whole creative chaos process in my head and soul, to get inspired by pictures. A picture can be amazing on its own but not wake up that flame of inspiration in me. I can't explain how it works. It just.. is.

So here's a blackbird with a bit of alternatuve background, cuz - artistic liberty ya know 18x24 cm in 100% polychromos - and some white gelpen on some spots, and a little help from Posca pencils here and there, where more smoothness was needed. About 30 hours work in total! Yes it was quite the project!
