In Japanese culture, it is impolite to jam your chopsticks upright into a bowl of rice since that's what they do at funerals, kinda like an offering to the dead iirc. Thus, the punchline.

Also, 8 MB for a not-very-long and simple comic strip. Wow. I'm gonna have to think of a new way to shrink these. (Edit: fixed, shrunk the pixel size by half with bilinear resampling. If anybody knows a better method, I'd really love to know.)
