Description
A simple black-and-white vexel of Korean superstar Jeon Ji Hyun. I made this as simple as possible just to see if I could complete it in less than 2 hours. Why that long, you ask? I always make my vexels with the intentions of printing it, so I had to double-check all sorts of factors like color, overprint, file size/type, etc. Can't wait to see Jeon Ji Hyun in the live-action "Blood: The Last Vampire" due out later this year. Check her out in "My Sassy Girl" and "Windstruck."

Thx!
I browsed thru your gallery and realized that I had seen your artwork in illustratorworld.com -- your mastery of the gradient mesh is totally awesome!

Thx! It's Jeon Ji Hyun's eyes, isn't it? I fell head over heels because of her eyes.

Don't forget, Jeon Ji Hyun is an actress and she could afford a personal stylist 24/7. Also, excellent lighting -- and Photoshop airbrushing -- can do wonders.

Appreciate your comment. And yes, curly hair can be very challenging -- and time consuming. Guess that's why I stay away from curly hair.

Thank you.
The vexel took 2 hours to make, but I took a good 30 minutes setting up the proper colors and custom brushes (for the hair). So technically speaking it was just over 2 hours to be exact. And I used Illustrator CS2.

I appreciate the comment. Are you familiar with Jeon Ji Hyun and her movies? I believe her latest film, "Blood: The Last Vampire," will be her first English-spoken role.

No, i haven't been watching korean dramas lately T^T I dunno where to watch them, but I'm familiar with her name. Ah that movie, heard of it too. lol. I'll go check on soompi. xD do you go on soompi?

I'm afraid I've never heard of soompi. I first saw Jeon Ji Hyun three years ago in the movie "My Sassy Girl" (which, btw, is getting a Hollywood makeover starring Elisha Cuthbert), which then led me to yesasia.com where I checked out other movies she had done.

I saw the "My Sassy Girl" DVD three years ago but, if I remember correctly, the movie itself is older than that. It's JJH's most famous movie (that and "Windstruck"), so if you google her name I'm sure you'll be directed to countless fansites of hers.
And thx for the heads-up on soompi. I'll check it out.

Wow, thanks! haha i'm gonna try googling it up xD
Go to the soompi forums too, that's where you'll get addicted, lol.

Yeah, I had trouble logging into v-net till last night; wasn't able to upload anything. :anger: But all is well now...for the time being.
I was actually inspired to make this vexel after remembering those celebrity b&w pencil/graphite portraits that are sold in the mall at Print Plus; they had soft textures but the shadows and blending (around the eyes in particular) really captured my attention. Too bad I never got around to buying any of those portraits 'cuz I really liked the one with Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. :sadness:
And yes, that is my signature. I seem to get compliments on my handwriting. I appreciate you liking it...I suppose.

That's really beautiful, so soft. Great job on the hair!

friki-dayz In reply to Jules1983 [2008-05-03 10:43:16 +0000 UTC]
Thx! Whenever I see pics of Jeon Ji Hyun on the net, I'd notice how soft they are, which accentuates her natural beauty. Making a vexel of her with too much shadow and/or contrast would be an injustice.
As for the hair? I always seem to dread doing long strands of hair yet I manage to have the most fun doing hair. I know, that sounds kinda strange.

I'm glad you like it! I've been meaning to make a colored version of this vexel but haven't got the time yet.
Say, aren't you a member in vexels.net? My PC's cookie setting is giving me fits and I can't seem to access my vexels.net account -- I'm unable to upload anything. But for some reason I have no problems opening deviantArt.

Oh, that's right. You're the comic book fan. Sweet! :joy: 'Tis a great time for comic book fans 'cuz so many superheroes are turned into movies these days. Which reminds me, I gotta check out "Iron Man"...
I've played around with my cookies setting and I still can't get into v.net. Not only is it weird, it's also annoying to the nth degree! I'll get into v.net again one way or another.

As for the v.net- I had the same problem with vectorpeeps.com- the problem resolved itself. After few months haha
