odie is psychologically and emotionally abused by Garfield the fat cat on a daily basis and times are even tougher for him now that there is a global pandemic overshadowing the garfieldverse. as a man, garfield's raw testosterone fueled rage over his missing lasagna is taken out on Odie, who is a known homosexual (which garfield and Jon Arbuckle do not approve of) , because of this odie is tortured with ridicule and threats and is fetishistically embarrassed by them continually whenever he comes out to get his dinner of dog kibble and bits........ Not all things are a shame though, he hears his favorite song, Shake It by Metrostation Chopped and screwed version #356 and for a moment he feels peace despite the painful shaking and stabbing of his organs from the his last grief stricken panic attackΒShake, shake

In the Garfield Xmas show, Odie is seen by Garfield constructing something . This is at intervals throughout the film. Garfield is puzzled at Odie's work -until the end when Odie presents his construct to Garfield - a scratching post !
