As Krypto went to gather other fighters to help Skunk in MORTAL KOMBAT. He comes across a Gaomon and knew they may need a very serious fighter.

Krypto: I would have tried Brainy, but I feel like we could use you mostly Ryuken.

Ryuken: you sure you want someone who has some very unwanted powers such as mines? After all you’ve already seen how powerful and out of control I could get ones it comes out.

Krypto: I’m well aware of the devil powers you have. After facing it myself before once. But I believe there maybe away to deal with it with what I’ve found. And with Brainy’s help she could use it to finally get rid of the devil powers in you.

Ryuken: you sure about this? I mean as much as I want to get rid of it for good. I do believe there are times when I might need it.

Krypto: believe me you can have the normal life you’ve been wanting. And all you have to do is help us win probably one of the most deadliest tournaments in existence.

Ryuken: a tournament you say? Well that’s all you needed to say. What’s the catch?

Krypto: let’s just say it’s completely different from the “King of Iron Paw Tournament”.

Krypto is recruiting Ryuken, a Gaomon who has unique and other worldly powers that he believes maybe what they need for probably the most dangerous tournament they’ll face. Hopefully the Elder Gods and Skunk maybe okay with someone who has the powers of the devil in them.

also the name of the tournament he was in before is a reference to the tournament in the “Tekken” games.
