PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU COMMENTSeiously,I don't want to hear you complaning about your school or your teacher, OK? I post my art here cause I need some feedback where I should improve, not to hear your school complain.

it's 7am now...and I haven't slept yet
I was painting this pic for school project T_T'....thank god it's finally done. HOORAY!!!"Color Mood" is the name of this particular assignment for Color and Design class X'D
I chose to draw manga style cause this particular assignment does not require any style. We can draw or paint anything that is related to our major [I'm semi sequential [traditional illustration] / animation right now.] So I can paint what I like.

that class is called "Color Theory. Same thing =__='...but this one is a lot bigger X'D]

To be honest until I stared hard I thought it was Davis from Digimon.

this is done really well the only thing that seems a tinge off is the arm resting on the ledge. It looks a bit big, but otherwise, your use of acrylics is great (especially since acrylics dry so fast) The colors suit the mood very well too.

Woooow. Color Theory. I have tried to learn some of it, but goodness, it's definitely not something to be self-taught. (Not sure if it's possible... @___@; )
Anyways, the paints with your anime stlye are really interesting. Creating a vector-ish-ness on the character, sunset, and water and textures on the other places. Quite interesting. O:
Ohhh, and vanishing point, I learned that! (Visual Arts I, oh, yeah. 8D xDDD; ) Sorry most of my thoughtful commenting skills have left the building along with my sanity for the moment... o.o;;

i really like it. ^^ the only thing that i think looks funky is the brown outline of the curtain. i don't know...the color just seems out of place to me. but i'm sure there's a good reason why you did it that way ^^

I love it ^^ You know since I told you on Gaia but now I see it done and I love it. Wow Seiji-sama *tail wags* The only thing I see where you can improve is on the background. Your guy is extremly well done and the background looks weak compaired to him. I know you're probably so tired of looking at this piece X3 but I'm just giving suggestions. I do like the kind of pop art ish style in the background though...
Oh! you know the top part, the brown over hang? Maybe you can make some very thin shade lines going down so it would point your attention to the background ^^

It was XD. Now I'm kinda semi 2-d animation / traditional illustration X'D [cause I don't really comfortable with making animation so I move to traditional illustration X'D..wanna do comic *3*!]
yeahyeah XD I worked on the lineart before and I decided to paint it XDD though I need to fix the sky and make it more desaturated tho TTATT'......we'll see how it's going to be X'D!!!

Woah, this is really well drawn, although I'm still a bit surprised that schools make you draw manga! xD But anyways, I think you drew the boy REALLY well, but you should improve the whole pic by focussing on the bg now 'cause it's a bit scruffier than how you drew the boy, e.g. no shading on the walls etc. Good luck on your assignment!

I'm in art school ;D actually some of my particular art classes don't allow me to draw manga style, but since this class we only focus on painting technique and coloring teqnique, the teacher just let us draw anything relate to our major ;D [now I'm in semi sequential art + animation so I chose to draw manga style.]

Wow! Your work is amazing I like the media your using. But one thing you might want to focus on is the lighting effect. The light effect makes your work look flat so might want to work on that. Think of Liquid, the curve of the shading have to flow a current way to make an 3 dimensional appearance. Get what Im saying? Other then that alot of the pencil techniques used in your work is good. Keep that creative juice going!

I love this - it's adorable!! I haven't learned that much about colour theory so far in school so I can't comment that much about it but it looks good to me! As far as the rest of the picture - it looks like you put a lot of detail and effort in to the character so he looks great! The window sill/wall/window frame look like they could use more detailing or texture because we can't really tell if they made out wood, cement, stone etc. Like, if I'm not really sure how to draw or paint something I usually look up photographic reference on the internet (using Google image or www.flickr.com). It helps me to see how the objects would be built and how they work with each other in a picture and then how it could be recreated into my drawing. Obviously, it is kind of too late now to change it!! But for future reference - things in the foreground should have more detail so you could probably get away with just detailing the part of the window sill closest to the viewer.
And don't say you aren't improving because everytime you draw you improve! It's true! Hope that helped you a bit ^_^

yup, all painted in gouache. I wish I could use colored pencils for some shading tho T_T'...gouache and colored pencils would be another good combination ;D hee hee~
and totally agree XD gouache is so much fun to work on ;D
have you heard about the 'poster paint'? ;D it looks similar to gouache, but it's like....7 times cheaper XDDD eeee~

Gosh, I wish I could paint manga for my art class. My art teacher hates it though, so I can't. >.< Must draw friggin' buildings with acrylic paint.

Me too. All of my teachers at my art college hate mange/anime and none of the students are allowed to draw it for assignments. But I am kind of thankful for that because I think I became a better artist in general because of drawing more realistically.
