Was it because he HAD to have an heir to maintain the Avatar bloodline and Lin couldn't conceive?

At least Pema genuinely seems to love him and all. But her being so young is still kind of odd.

Just imagine the powerful kids he and Lin could have had if having children with her was possible.

No, I don't think it's because of that. I bet she could have popped out as many kids as she wanted.She just didn't want to...
I know it happens in today's world but Pema and Tenzin just seem too far apart in age. It's almost the "He's old enough to be her father" sterotype. The way I see the society in the show you would think couples would marry about mid-twenties give or take. Lin and Tenzin would have hypothetically been married by the time Pema even hit puberty.

And yes. They would have some kickass kids.I still love the air babies tho >.>
