As Nightmare smiles a psychotic smile at me all I can think about is him and my failure.
Those poor people, even if they were guilty. My poor brother. The apples overtook him and truth be told I don't even know if he is still in there. The black liquid, similar to a sort of slime, fully covers his petite form. His right eye socket is blinded by the horrible substance, meaning he cannot see out of it.

I have to stop him, that thing is not my brother anymore. Or at least thats what I have to tell myself. He and I fight for a period of time, giving the few remaining time to escape. The sky darkens to a faded purple, almost as if life is being sucked from it.

I am losing, I only had time to eat one of the golden apples before it rotted to black. He had almost an entire trees worth black apples. I feel a shocking pain hit my leg, as I see a tentacle of sorts spear it. A grey color takes over my body slowly, and I lose feeling in those parts.

He is somehow turning me to stone. I guess the power of the apples gave him a boost of strength. I try to think past the numbing pain that is enveloping me. All I can think of is one word. My safe place.

"Nightmare....! Slips past my lips, and the last thing I see is the monster that used to be my brother looking back at me. Thinking of what could have been. And then it went black.

All I wanted, was a happy ending.
