Description Here is a card model I made based on the fairly well-known spacecraft from the 70's TV series, "Space:1999." It was not a downloaded pattern but one I drew up myself. I studied a small miniature and designed the layout of the parts to be scanned and printed out. It took about 4 sheets of white card stock to make all the components. One thing about this vehicle is that it has many redundant parts so I only had to draw out one of each kind and then duplicate the pattern however number of times I needed to. I used pigment pens and Tria markers to apply the colours. I then photoshopped in the "Moonbase Alpha" markings after finding a suitable graphic online.

Nicely done.Β  I would recommend to check out resinilluminati.com/index.php Β  They have some studio prop artist there who do wonder in scratchbuilding.Β  I use them for reference when making my paper models, especially in the sci-fi department.Β  Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

I just came across your model while doing a search here on DA, Β great stuff, I have the full series on DVD collectors set.

Looking at the keyboard in the back ground I guess that the model would be about 45 to 50 cm long when finished.

Once again 'Great Stuff'.

Cheers.

Great model indeed.
However, I couldn't find the rear section in your gallery, you know, where the fuel tanks and the thrusters are...
Any suggestions?

I suggest you abandon this version of the model and instead, focus on this improved model I created. It's more accurate and more precisely designed than my earlier, hand-drawn version. [link]
There are 6 pages of parts to print and cut out.(although you need to print out page 1 twice to get the correct number of landing gear parts)

I can make the patterns available to you online. No one's ever asked before.

Hi there. I've loaded all the necessary sheets of components into my scrapbook. You'll be able to download them from there. Here's a link to the first page. [link] Contact me via note if you have any questions.(there will be a few details to add after you have all the pieces scored and cut out.(since I basically made this up for myself, there are no formal instructions for assembly. You're the first person to ever ask to build one.)

Big thanks for this! It looks like, with the photo and the notes you've made on the drawings, I have enough info for putting this together! Looking forward to it! Many thanks!

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Let me know if you need any info about the construction. Actually, here's something right now; you should make a long, flat box about 1/2 inch thick, 1 inch wide and long enough to insert sideways through the fore and aft body modules with enough length left over to slide into each of the landing gear modules through the side that attach to the body. You will cut diagonal slits where the box goes in and you should make it long enough to glue the ends to the interior far surface (behind where the manoeuvring thrusters would be). This will keep the landing gear pods rigid and not bounce around like they would if you just glue them onto the sides of the fore and aft body. I hope this makes some sense. If not, I will sketch it out and post it in my scrap book.

Hi there... Think I get it, not sure about the diaganal slits tho... a quick scribble wouldn't go a miss tho!

Used to have a plastic model of one of these when I was a kid.

The same 2 folks that were in mission Impossible were in Moonbase 1999. Found out how useful a shapechanging girlfriend could bee.

Looks great.

My pleasure! Space: 1999 is one of my favorite shows and I even remembered toasting a drink at midnight when September 13th, 1999 came around the corner. Funny too, it was one of my nephew's birthdays.

My friends and I did the same thing that night. When I was in junior high school, I spent many hours learning how to draw an Eagle so I could do it from memeory.

Thank you. It's a fairly simple model compared to some of the card Eagle models I've seen. It would look nice made with glossy paper but I find that the coating cracks upon folding or the plastic backing on some photo papers won't adhere to the glue.

Well, I think it looks pretty awesome.

Somewhere there's a tiny, paper Martin Landau without an Eagle...
