Just finished this mermaid with Manga Studio 5. I wasn't sure about the hair color. My friends said purple, so purple hair it is! What is your opinion? Good? Bad?Related content

Very weird unprofessional process :
1, Draw a mermaid with shadows, highlights and stuff.
2. open a new file and draw scales as symmetrical as possible so you can copy and paste them into a larger net.
3. then copy paste those nets roughly over the places you want to be scaley. stretch and pinch the scale layer into form. you know! bigger on parts that are closer to you, smaller in the background. manga studio has this function "clip to layer below" I think photoshop and other programs have similar options. you can use this later. so it doesn't have to be clean at this moment.
4. add an overlay layer for the scales. use very vibrant colors and blend them. merge the overlay and the scales to create those colorful scales.
5. now clip it to the layer below! the scales to the mermaid. set the scales to overlay
6. blend the edges a little bit into the skin.
7. your scales are done!
