Description
Colored version of my contest entry for "Splice." The film looks like it'll be gory so I hope this matches the gore.Related content

Horror metal is AKA black metal, just being a prude and letting ya know.

Technically my band is horror metal but we're not black metal at all. We really have our own unique sound.

It might match the gore, but it won't match the creative use of gore, like in this pic.

I like this!! It's like a mix between a Resident Evil Licker, and a Dead Space Slasher!
What is it a mix of?

Whoa, all those sharp edges and blood! Great job with the details and I like the dark, comic-book-esque shading. I for some reason particularly like how you rendered its foot. I see in the comments below that you didn't want a clear origin of the DNA spliced into this monster, but it probably would have made it a stronger contestant if it was at least a little bit clearer origins explaining some of the design decisions, such as "Why doesn't it have any eyes?" or "Why are its ribs exposed?" Also, the background looks a little pixel-ly and artifact-y and stands out as different from the rest. It probably would have worked better to have done the background with ink(?) as well.

Yeah, I kind of had to rush this. Besides the whole "tradtional vs. photoshop" stuff I actually had fun with it. I painted the background based on a screencap I saw of one of the characters in a barn or shed. I was thinking of whether or not to take out the line art or leave it. I figured it's what I do best so I left it. I'm not sure if I would've been selected anyway if it was fully phototshopped though. Hell, I don't even know what the hell I was thinking when I drew it. I just wanted something that looked nasty.

Human and parts and pieces from various other "dangerous" animals. People tend to limit themselves to drawing man-dragons, furries and other were-creatures. I just wanted it to look like a dangerous life form and not like everything else out there. It's just this mangled "thing" made of a bunch of different parts. Part human, part insect, part pachiderm, etc...

Oh ok. I gotcha. It's very well done. There's definitely an evident fiercness. You did a great job with it.

It's supposed to be some human/animal hybrid thing for the Splice contest. It does look alien though.
