Sooo... just found this awesome comic. And now I'll comment on it. Be prepared...
To be honest, I wasn't sure what to think about the art style in the beginning, but I grew to like it.
Can't detect anyone being ooc, which is gooood. Even characterdevelopement on Raditz' part seems likely XD
The story itself is great. Really I laughed so many times and the more serious parts gave me chills. Especially the newest developements.
I think, my favourite parts until here were shopping with mrs. briefs and Raditz slapping himself for staring at Bulma's ass. XD
And the flashbacks. Oooh, I LOVE flashbacks. Although I don't think that Raditz is THAT much older than Vegeta, I really liked that first flashback about him carrying the young prince to the pod and saying "even supersaiyans need help" ^___^ had kind of this "big brother"-attitude to it.
I already thought that something must have happened between them when Raditz said they weren't friends anymore...
Sooo... my thoughts about what's happening now and next.
I guess Raditz doesn't want to cause more problems and is leaving because of that.
Since Goku hasn't shown up yet, I HOPE either he or Gohan find out about Raditz being back to life. I'd just wish for a brotherly reunion and/or Raditz apologizing for what he did to them. He doesn't seem like a bad guy, since you gave him a bit more depth and he did worry about Kakarot as far as we've seen it here. When that whole thing on the island happened, he probably got carried away with his emotions just like he was now in the fight with Vegeta.
Well, so far for my thoughts.
Hope you'll continue soon ^^

Wow, I must have read this comment like... ten times over the past few days, trying to come up with a halfway intelligible answer to it. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time you took read the story and to write it.
Firstly, haha, I know the art is a little dingy, especially for a fandom that normally stays pretty true to the original style, but thanks for putting up with it!
I'm glad you like the story so far, it's been festering in my head for a long time now, and it's honestly just the bee's knees knowing somebody not only likes it but thinks it's plausible.
Well, I don't want to give too much away, but the meetings with Goku and Gohan(oh, and trust me, that is going to happen) are still a ways off. I'd like for him to pretty much be peachy keen with everybody, but it... definitely wouldn't be fun if it were that easy
You've really touched on everything I wanted to kind of put out there about Raditz. His personality and how much trouble it gets him in...
aughh, this comment made me so happy, I just want you to know that!

*bows* We have to thank you for drawing and writing such an awesome story XD
Alright, Gohan and Goku have to wait (too bad, would have liked to see their faces XD)
Didn't think it would be a happy reunion from beginning to end, but I hope that they will have a... halfway mature talk about what happened. Fort some reason I can't imagine Goku still being very angry about that whole thing. I mean... let's face it, of ALL villains they faced, Raditz was the smallest threat. He only kidnapped a child and wanted Goku to kill 100 humans.
Vegeta and Nappa killed more people ARRIVNG on Earth.
Freezer/Frieza (can't decide how to write his name, here in Germany it's "Freezer" XD) pretty much killed the whole saiyan race, the namekians and god knows how many other planets went down for his new-year's-celebrations ("Yay, fireworks!")
The cyborgs from Trunks' future killed people slowly over decades, which is one of the nastiest things to do to the human psyche.
Don't get me even started on Cell's or Boo's "Let's destroy the universe out of boredom"-games.
After all those guys, Raditz is a cute villain-puppy. Also I can't remember Goku being really resentful towards anyone. Gohan on the other hand might want to kick someone's ass for a childhood trauma...
Just going through possibilities, excuse my rambling XD
Well, back to the topic, I think the story at least more plausible than Toriyama forgetting about Raditz after the Frieza/Freezer-Saga, and defintely far more plausible (and interesting) than many fanfics floating around the internet, probably even my own *cough* which didn't go further than first chapter because of translating issues *cough*
Also, I wanted to spread theories. *laughs crazy*
Especially about these black monster-thingies. I read the comic again and didn't see too many comments about them, so I made up my own theories. I think they somehow connect to Raditz being back to life. Obviously nobody used the Dragon Balls for it, so it has to be another power strong enough to pull a soul out of hell and push it back into its body. I don't know how much you give about the movies, but the black thingies remind me of the evilness-fluids (that's what they are called from now on!) from the huge tanks in the otherworld. Don't have to be the evilness-fluids, but something evil and demonic. So maaaybe someone didn't do his job right, the black thingies went to hell and needed a soul+body to escape the otherworld. I remember this nightmare Raditz had about fighting a giant monster, so it could be a metaphor for him fighting subconsciously against this thing inside his body, that may or may not be slowly eating his soul.
... I probably watched to many horror movies and Animes, but this is what I think! ยฐ_ยฐ
Wanted to let you know that ยฐ_ยฐ
Anyway, I stole enough of your time, have a nice day! ^^

I understand what you mean about Raditz being the weakest/smallest threat and did the least amount of damage, but he was by far the most personal villain. I believe out of all the villains (Frieza aside who just pulled dick moves left and right), Raditz was most intent on making specifically Goku suffer (stealing his kid and demanding the 100 bodies is pretty brutal and pits Goku against his own loving/peaceful nature).
Heh, heh trust me, we all have fanfics. Me nonwithstanding!
You're on the right track with those apparitions (I'm actually a little bummed they're not too noticed, but maybe the subtlety of them popping in and out will be a nice effect in the end)... as far as them linking to why Raditz was able to come back... but I'll just say it doesn't have anything to do with those radioactive otherworld tubes (that is my favorite movie though!)
Horror movies and anime! Anyone who likes those two things never waste my time! <3

I kneel before you for this point of view, because that's exactly how I talked about it for years, hoping Toriyama would bring Raditz back into the plot to solve the problem that arose from the first few episodes. It seemed so important to me that the first enemy is Goku's big brother, acting like the biggest jerk in the universe. But it never came... I was just as disappointed with Goku never meeting Bardock in the otherworld. Or Raditz, for that matter. I mean, he was dead for seven years! Even with the tournaments held in the otherworld, I imagine the rest of the time boring enough to think about some things like "Wasn't there something about my whole race being eradicated by Frieza? Come to think of it, I never met my parents. Huh."
I know his first experience with a family member *cough* wasn't exactly the best, but he's the strongest guy in the universe. It's not like he had something to fear from saiyans that don't even own their bodies anymore.
And if everything could have gone wrong, he knows where to find the hell's exit. XD
By the way, about being brutal... I don't think Raditz thought so. To most of the saiyans, 100 lives of weaker beings are nothing. And even if he knew what it did to Goku, he probably still thought of it as a "friendly offer" not to demand the whole population killed.
To Goku of course it's still pretty harsh...
... What the heck am I arguing for, I'm on your side ยฐ___ยฐ
You have fanfics? Where can I find them? *_*
Mine was/is about the saiyans that survived the destruction of planet Vegeta and their lives in Friezas's tyranny, especially about Vegeta's and Raditz's childhood and young adulthood. (I was still a bit confused when someone seemed to think I was going to make them a pairing... just because I entitled them "best friends"... o_รด)
Yes! I'm the master of interpretation! (don't worry about it, I know how it feels to give hints and no one ever mentions them... in the end everyone is surprised and you can rub the hints into their faces XD)
Okay, evilness-fluids aren't at fault... Got it memorized. (everything that has the fusion-dance in it is my favorite thing XD I was still sad... they cut out the hitler-parody in our release of the movie ยฐ_ยฐ Him being beaten up by two kids was hilarious!)
Combining both in a way: Do you know Higurashi no naku koro ni? It's mindscrew on so many levels... but I love it. XD

FrontierComics In reply to KidSerja [2013-03-27 18:52:26 +0000 UTC]
I think Saiyans sicked Goku for a long time... like he was okay embracing his heritage for some reasons... but the culture and the mindset was something he wanted to distance himself from. But yeah, it'd be great if he decided to look up his family, you think he'd get bored being dead for so long.
Yeah, I think you're right. I don't think Raditz thought he was being that harsh... but Goku was pretty blown away by the mere suggestion.
Haha, I deleted them! xD Yeah, people tend to be so eager to ship anything that moves. They strike me as bros more than lovers... but then again, peeps be cray.
I've never heard of it. Is it an anime? I really don't watch too much anymore.

Raditz: Come on, it's just 100 dead bodies.
Goku: No O_o
Raditz: ... You never gave me a birthday present.
Goku: That's still not a hundred... And you didn't get me anything either!
Raditz: I'm here now! Let's party!
Goku: Yeah, twenty years later >___>
Raditz: How to party better than with 100 dead -
Goku: I said NO!
Raditz: We could go to space australia!
Jeice: Dat's right, mates.
... I swear, I don't know which corner of my mind that came from... I just wanted to share it.
WHY? Why did you delete them? XD
People and shippings... Sometimes I wonder how some of them came to be. I'm just waiting for someone to ship Kid Gohan X T-Rex. It was love on first sight...
After finding a BrolyXBra-Story a long time ago, I am not that easy to surprise anymore.
Talking about Bra, I like the way you portray her =3 She kind of annoyed me in GT as much as Pan... Then again, GT had only two parts I liked. Vegeta's beard-topic and Trunks wearing a bridal dress. I really wished for someone to take a photo and show it to Vegeta... just to see his reaction.
Higurashi no naku koro ni is an anime and a sound novel that's taking place in the small village Hinamizawa in 1983. The story revolves around Watanagashi, a village-intern festival "to wash away your sins". Everything seems peaceful, until the main character, Keiichi, who just moved to Hinamizawa, gets to know the past of the village and the murders that take place every year the night after Watanagashi. The murders are mostly referred to in context of "Oyashiro-sama's curse".
That's at least the plot they WANT you to believe in... it is a bit complicated and as the anime continues most of the riddles are solved. Since it is only an adaption, I think the novel would be the better choice (if I had access to it).
Genre-wise I'd say it is a mixture of horror, thriller, humor... and if mindscrew was a genre, it probably would be that too.
I just thought of it because there's coming a new season of it in spring ^^
