Description
Cone 6, PorcelainI guess this one didn't run away fast enough.
Funnily enough, the sponges around my studio have been vanishing one by one. I suspect they are taking lessons from my sponge sculptures.

gorgeous. it almost seems to have MORE life in it, because of it's cringing posture.

Awwwww... you make me miss my old pottery classes... in which I never did any real pottery. Instead...
...I sculpted!
I'm not too good at making vessels, yet, but I really, REALLY want to find the campus pottery room so I can just sit & sculpt statuettes of animals & monsters & abstracts like I use to that one fine year!

Ah, so the sponge holes are made from carving? That's really neat: it must have been very tedious though. But it really pays off, since this is one of the most unique abstract sculpture I've seen so far.
Kind of reminds me of a jellyfish (the main part with the holes being the 'bell' and the ends being the tentacles).

I poked at it. A lot. And carved out some holes with a hole cutting tool. ^_^ Its a rather time consuming process.

Mote'kay'cheram. ^_^ (Excuse me while I slaughter my farsi, which I know isn't your language but I need to practice and You might have heard the phrase anyhow. :crossfingers: ) Thanks. ^_^ I need to make more in this vien, I'd forgotten about it because it was in a failed kiln firing... it didn't go all the way to temperature at first. It was about a month before it finally got taken all the way to temperature, and I'm so happy with it. ^_^

Yay! I love the colours!
I swear though, you practically have to nail sponges down to keep them from running away!

I know! But then they aren't very useful. Hrmmm... I'm thinking about teatheres right now. Like those retractable types...

That's a great idea! ...Now I have this bizarre mental image of a giant sponge wearing a dog collar and chained to a tree in someone's front yard. (O_o)

I absolutely love this. Reminds me very much of Ceratocorys horrida, one of my favourite dinoflagellates

Naaah, just drunk...
He'll be better after he he wakes up tomorrow morning, though with a terrible headache.
alternatively, could have come from Larson's 'boneless sponge farm'
btw, the sponges at Jeff's have long, fine, dog hair all over them...better they disappear altogether
