Description
Devastator mech, a super artillery mech that can level a base to its knees, even when not using its weapon, its large arms can demolish foes on the ground. Its shredder beams will leave a land scape of burning ash. Its anatomy allows it to travel from hills to mountains to gain ground on its foes. However it is very slow and can be an easy target to snipers.Rough work done in 45 minutes.

Wicked! I like how it is non-humanoid, but not beastly... More like monstrous. "Shredder Beams" sound intimidating too.

i think that a condensed human form can lead to more sci-fi action over millatry based story.

Pulsar Artillery Cannon = What is actually pulsar? kind of like plasma? I presume it acts like a railgun.
Shedder beam = I presume this weapon sheds its enemies to bits and pieces upon contact.
Gatling guns = That's gonna spend thousands of bullets into packed enemy ranks.
Infernal Sentry turrets = This could provide excellent defense for those close enemies who came up close and personal.

My take: An interesting mech, and I am intriuged by its weapons and design. Looks like a gorilla-like mech in its posture, and I love the weapons design. The face reminds me of armoured Core units. The main problem I see is the exposed weapons and joints, which if hit, will cause catastrophic damage to the robot, hence I recommend those parts to be more armoured. All in all, that was quite a interesting robot design. Yeah, to snipers it is a stationery target.

Pulsar cannon- Normally made my hurling up photon energy inside and then suddenly burst it out at one shot sending a ball of compressed photon particles of energy.
Then the Shredder Beam is a hot ray of laser which just cuts through anything, hot enough to burn the surroundings.
Gattling guns and Infernal sentry turrents are just medium weapons that help it cause some destruction up close.
I didint intend to make it an invincible mech because its more of a mass produced type, a sniper mech would easily take them out, but their use as a support unit is a force to be reckoned with.

wow, sounds a bit like warhammer 40K's chaos weaponry for some reason. Nevertheless, I like it.
Reminds me of the laser used by Futuretanks. very interesting and useful.
Ideal for mowing down enemy infantry.
Oh I see. interesting. Yeah, sniping mechs can take them out easily, but they are a force to be reckoned with at long range.

true, but all of them have to work coordinately in order to pull off a decisive victory, from snipers mechs, infantry mechs to artillery mechs, they all play a role in the battlefield when they work together. even an ace pilot can be beaten down with the best combination, strategy and team work. In the comic, even a commander can take down an elite super ace mech with his few group of varied mechs.

shot in the eyes would just blind it, but then theres always an alternate sensor but not as good as the one that got shot, but enough to escape. if you want to kill it, you have to use a huge sniper gun carried by a huge mech, and you still wont kill it if you just shot the arms.
thanks a lot

This thing is massive! Almost as big as one of my own imaginary Titans! And those are massive, so massive one of them has never been deployed in an interplanetary battle, not even once... But yeah, this thing is most certainly an artillery piece given that huge pulsar cannon on it's back, I'm assuming it behaves like a mortar right? And those sentry gun emplacements? Anti-tank or shrapnel anti-personal rounds? Anyway this thing looks wicket!

thanks a lot, yeah those sentry guns are all for small crawling ground targets. wouldnt you waste a lot of ammo by aiming your big guns on small targets, i get annoyed during a game, im a mech using my powerful guns on one tiny target.

That's true to the word! But that's precisely why I use lasers or nanotech cartridges! One shot, one kill, or with the latter, one canister, BOOM, entire infantry battalion gets ripped to shreds by sub-molecular nanomachines nibbling away at they're structure! Mean, but it conserves ammo o-o.

haha, thats right, this is just the mass produced units, they use conventional weapons to suppress the enemy with rapid fire, but the bullets does carry lethal energy explosive shells and so does the missles and grenades. Laser and pulsar weapons are only good because they have limited range and its more 1 shot at a time. Not to mention they consume lot of energy and very unstable.

Centro In reply to Frost7 [2009-05-07 13:31:50 +0000 UTC]
I see. But that of course would depend on the level of technology. Most mechas I've observed, the GN-Series Gundams for example have standardized energy weapons and high-powered bodies that most machines would fall apart from. Size is a definitive limit factor as well, the bigger the mecha, the more trouble it will have with certain terrain. But yeah, I still like these designs!

Frost7 In reply to Centro [2009-05-08 14:27:42 +0000 UTC]
for me i think using the same type of weapons, in every war, there will surely be someone to counter them with some sort of deflective energy absorption armor or something. im sure there will be times where conventional will be handy sometimes.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Centro In reply to Frost7 [2009-05-08 23:23:08 +0000 UTC]
Not really. In the future conventional firearms will be rendered entirely useless. Like in Gundam 00, the Exia was able to withstand artillery bombardment and standard issue howitzers for hours on end with not so much as a scratch on it's outer plating. Even linear rifles proved ineffective. It is my belief that in the future, the standard will become insufficient to use against anything. Seeing as how even energy shields and reactive armor have limitations and are not perfect defenses even though they are very effective.

Frost7 In reply to Centro [2009-05-09 11:23:27 +0000 UTC]
im not sure, for me Gundam 00 has its own way of perceiving fictional military warfare and the plots and concepts are all very clinched.
For me what are energy weapons, something of extreme compressed energy that travels in a spectrum and disintegrate molecules? that requires a lot of energy and the technology and economy to produce such power for mass production, even uranium shells from an artillery practically does the same thing but with intense molecular fission.
Even if the armor is not broken, the immense shock blast would shatter the pilots bones from the immense concussion effect, but in time anything that cant withstand the shock even the systems would suffer from seismic damage and in time the heat produced from the tons of intense radioactive blast from a whole military wave would melt away the armor. if anything can withstand that,i think energy weapons cant even make that happen.

Centro In reply to Frost7 [2009-05-10 15:44:14 +0000 UTC]
That's is actually incorrect. Some metals thermal resistance is far too high for a simple nuclear shell to blast away. Mono molecular metal for instance or phase-transition armor is entirely immune to any physical weapons such as nuclear warheads.
And the more advanced the civilization, in human terms maybe but another species might easily surpass any science known to man. And I am not silly, I acknowledge the power of a thermonuclear warhead, but an ion beam can easily turn the hardest armor into dust in a single shot, and sonic weapons are useless in space as there is no air to conduct the waves.
It doesn't work against mono-molecular metal off course, there is no way to break a metal like that so you've got to aim for the systems and or pilot.
Not to mention most highly advanced machines, more or less anyway in my own fictional universe are remote-controlled via mind-meld, I guess you could say my machines are enlarged cybernetic organisms controlled by merging the pilots consciousness together with the cyborgs own.
The link can be broken but never taken over. So the need for a pilot over time becomes moot. Future machines are not going to have a pilot, at least not an on board pilot.

Frost7 In reply to Centro [2009-05-10 19:00:41 +0000 UTC]
Indeed a phase transition metal can withstand a nuclear blast, but even a direct hit wont completely render it invincible, some tanks can withstand nuclear warheads can actually be destroyed with a simple javelin launcher, and a direct hit from a nuclear blast would still destroy the tank, the mechanism of weapons are not that simple, a shell does not mean to just explode, inside the modern shell today is rapidly evolving, and most of them work as a pile driver that could travel under hard rock and hit underground targets and the a megatons of hard dropping shells from a world large futuristic military constellation would be entirely different. Each shell could be outfitted with plasma radiant energy or a nano consuming gas together with a pile driver mechanism or even worse.
If an ion beam could say penetrate a ferromagnetic armor by its extreme ionized energy like a lightning, pure energy has always a way from being redirected simply a highly conductible material instead or a super ionized material of different dipole properties. Also when it comes to energy weapons, a normal ion beam woudlt do much to even a tank like today unless it is delivered by an energy of an extreme extent, that is why theres always a question of energy.
And if you say humans would have mind meld technology over their machines, then humans will no longer be what they are anymore, and most of the battle will emerged from mind war like Ghost in the Shell than robots colliding. Instead we might never know what humans would be when they have gain consciousness over machine, their concept of thinking would totally be different from modern perception.
