Generally speaking for more 'official' show entries I tend to revert all horses to the classic 'breed standard' in terms of hair and fetlock styles. Or, in terms of halter entries, shaved fetlocks to show proper build and up mane and tail to show of the neck and rump muscling. All of which would be looked at for a judge judging nordanners. The classic breed features are the things you want to show off in any show that's based along visual performance or 'dazzle'. In physical based competitions manes and tail might not have a strong effect on the judging unless they seriously impair the horse. (Imagine trying to do cross country with a horse with super long mane/tail/feathering. The water from all the jumps could potentially irritate the horses skin and the long mane/tail could catch on various objects )

Soo~ Incase you were wondering why I tend to draw feathered horses feathered sometimes but not all the times. This is why. n.n In a breed where feathering isn't a breed standard it could actually impair the judging.

Mistress is scratching her foot, Moulin is bored (I've mentally starred calling her 'mulan' XD) Heat horse see's a friend (Leave it to the stallion to be noisy!) and Taxidermy is actually focussed on the judge.
