Description
For those who don't know, this is Jo, my oc, and her Mary Sue counterpart XD
I think this drawing speaks for itself, but I'll write some stuff about it anyway because I can β’^β’ Keep in mind that this is just a joke!
||Please don't feel offended, this is just my personal opinion and preference. Feel free to draw whatever you want, I'm not stopping you!||
When creating a TMNT oc, I like to stick to the logics of the 2012 show. For example Jo doesn't have a lot of curves because she has a shell around her torso. Same with the hair. Reptiles and amphibians don't have any hair. Some people can make it work with mutant oc's, but I personally prefer not to use hair in this case. It seems irrelevant and not logical to me.
A turtle mutant, even though they're female, shouldn't have a curved plastron or shell in my opinion. It isn't 'canonly accurate'. A shell is a shell. They might have tits or wider hips inside their shell, but the shell is part of their skeleton and probably fused to their body while mutating. The way for me to separate a female mutant turtle to a male is simply the shape and composition of the head, build of the limbs (thighs/hips) and eyelashes.
I think I've talked about this before but I've just been seeing a lot of Mary Sue like characters in this fandom recently. Especially on the app Amino, which I created this drawing for.
I could go on talking about this issue for days, but I don't want to bother y'all with too much to read, so I'll end it here. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments!

Well, it depends on the mutation. Example.
Humans turn mutant animal: Sometimes gets hair, sometimes not. Some get boobs (especially the mammals) some don't, some gets curves, some don't. Some became animalistic aka feral (or savage) some are a mix of humanity & feral, some have humanity aka sanity.
Animals getting mutated: some goes savage aka remain animal-like in nature or is like Slash that has humanity or both. For mammals, they will not get hair but depending on the mutation will sometimes get boobs (not huge ones) & curves, for example, the 2012 Alopex. Her breast is super small (hardly noticeable) with some small curves. 2012 snake Karai is the same except she has breast, small ones but as far as I know off, no curves. Mutated Reptiles, animals mutating doesn't really have these unless it's something like Karai. But if a human turn into a reptile then it just depends how the mutagen affects the person mutation, for example, the 1980s Mona Lisa & 1980s April turning into a cat tho its an old show so I dunno if it counts. But either this is how I see it.
If a human or animal mutates into an object then I'm guessing none of these things I've mention applies, it'll be weird if it does.

I completely agree, especially the hair part! I still enjoy seeing peopleβs OCs and what concepts they have created them with, but when it came to my own, a turtle named Saria, I wanted to do something different. So she has no hair, no boobs, but I did give her curves because she has larger hips compared to her shoulders and rib cage. I also tried to draw her slimmer and more lithe compared to the turtle brothers. It was my first mutant turtle concept so I may make changes to her in the future.Β
Sorry Shayotita I didn't mean to comment on you. My phone bugged out on meΒ Β

Main rule when making a canonverse TMNT OC: Don't give female turtles boobs and curves.

I def see where you're coming from!! I think it makes a lot of sense~
In my own AU there is in fact a difference in the mutation, which depends on if you started out human or not. If a human for example mutters into a turtle mutation, they'll have hair, boobs (how ever smaller than the original side since turtles don't need boobs), curves, etc. They'd have hair regardless of the gender. However if it's the other way around, there will be no hair, no curves, not any of that.
I know that was long and unecassary lmao sorryyyy!
I feel like I should draw the differences and post them so people understand the mutation concept of my AU but idk.
But yeah, I think what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I also really respect that you don't shame on other people who draw their characters the other way~

It's not unnecessary at all! I totally understand your point and I'm fine with the concept of that AU. I like it
And that's what AU's are for! Creating whatever you want that does have to be canonly accurate~
If it bothers you, maybe drawing the differences would help? I understand why you do it now and I totally accept and respect that! I like the way you draw it and it suits your style.
I can't imagine Jo in that AU though because she used to be human XD It might be fun to try.

I agree with the hair thing. It just looks weird. My OC Mandy, when she gets mutated into a turtle, doesn't have her hair. She sometimes would braid her masktails, because I feel styling your mask tails is the closest to getting hair.
