Yes, but like everything else right now it's a complete Reboot, with a whole new cast and no Joss involved. I can't describe the EPICness of this FAIL.
I think I heard it was the Kuzui's. That husband and wife team that produced and directed the movie when Joss stepped out and through some legal loophole deal got partial ownership rights to Buffy because of it. You'll see their name at the beginning of every Buffy and Angel episode in the credits even though they had NOTHING to do with any aspect of the show, yet they still got paid because of that deal. Makes me sick.

Agreed. We all make bad decisions in our life that we regret later on. This has to be one of his major's when looking back.

Honestly I wouldn't even need Joss to direct it. Just as long as he wrote it and oversaw the whole thing.

Not at all. It's the Director's job to lead the actor's and get the best possible performance, and yes a general idea of how the shots look, but take the series. 90% of the episodes weren't directed by Joss but he was still Executive Producer and had creative control.
If a Director was in control of everything then it wouldn't get done. That's why we have Production Designers and Art Director's to design the world they live in, or Cinematographers to design the mood and feeling of each shot.
On those episodes Joss didn't direct the writer's wrote the script, handed it to him and he polished it off. Then that was it. He handed it off to everyone else to make it and he was on to the next project.

Oooooh. Huh. You'd have to be Director/God if it was a big movie. Well let me rephrase my mistaken earlier statement, the current news on the Buffy movie is that Joss wouldn't be involved at all. Which makes me sad.
