Description I finally finished the dragon ring I've been working on in Blender. I had to fuse ~602 scales into the body of the ring with each scale taking ~2 mins. Otherwise, minimum of 1204 minutes because I went about everything the wrong way. I also didn't need to fuse all the scales for 3D printing. I was finally able to sculpt the head and tail to fit the body better, though they still look off (especially with how the head lobes upward right after meeting the body, blah). I ordered 3D printed versions of this ring (plastic) from Shapeways, so hopefully it will turn out well and maybe I can make it into something with metal so mew yay :3

WOW! I love the attention to detail and the overall shininess. If this was made into a real metal ring, I'd SO buy it!

Thank you! This took forever to make and I'm glad you like it! ^^ The detail print came out good, but I dunno where to get the same quality but in metal

I love the amount of detail you put into the scales and the color of the ring! The type of dragon seems to be an asian dragon which is great since I don't seem much 3D art dedicated to them. I Love the dark negative space since it really gives the highlights a bit of depth to the ring! Great job and outstanding work might I add!

Thank you! I wasn't aiming for any particular style of dragon, but the serpent/asian style lends itself well to a ring design. The background is part of something I made for another render. I just reused it here and the black just happened to come out well. Thank you!

Thank you!!!! Um for this one I made the ring in separate parts and fused them together. I modeled the dragon head via the typical method I do for characters. I then sculpted the head for more detail (i.e. texture on the skin/scales). Then I made the main body/stem of the ring by making an array and curving it around a circle curve (modifiers). Then I made an array of scales that matched the body and did the same curve modifier. Then I finished off my designing the tail fin thingy and making a special curve to pose and deform it to the right shape. Then I created some sort of placeholder gems. They aren't natural cuts or anything fancy, but they look nice in the render regardless. After that I fused all the pieces of the ring together and sculpted them to have smoother transitions (it took a long time for this since I had to fuse in all ~602 scales by hand manually at ~2mins a scale ugh). I added the materials so they'd render nice. The materials I found online and I should have linked to them... The metal is very basic, while the gem is rather complex. I used a modifier to carve out shape from the ring to hold the gems so the two models didn't intersect (makes things more pretty). I then rendered everything out XD so yeah... lots of work XD Thank you so much!!!!!!! I like my phoenix ring design a bit more but this one is nice too ^^ I'm getting both 3D printed in plastic and hopefully I'll have them near to end of the month so yay ^^ I might may one of them in real metal with some form of gem or enamel (glass coating kind of thing that'd probably work for the phoenix ring)... so meows!!! >^.^<
