just like... I don't stand out, you know? I'm about as bland as flour in real life, and I'm too afraid to tell my friends I draw. They'd never make fun of me to my face you know, but I'm just afraid they're too polite to tell me how they really feel. Most of what I draw is pokemon, and I just feel like they wouldn't understand, and just...
and then theres DA, right?? There's just so many talented artists on here that have amazing and incredible skills, and I'm kind of panicking, you know? If I want to work in an art related job, I've gotta stand out from the others all fighting for that job- and I just don't. Like, there's nothing spectacular about my work at all. Its not bad, thats not what I'm saying, but it doesn't make people stand back and say "Wow, she's definitely going places." I wish I had more time to practice my skills, but I've gotta choose a life path in the next year practically. And I just don't know what I'm going to do. Everything feels way out of reach and hopeless and I really don't know what I'm gonna do. Its silly and irrational I know, but this is all thats been going on in my head lately and every little thing has been setting me off, and its dumb but its how I feel

Why you fear about telling your friends if you know they won't make fun of you? If they really are your friends, they should understand that you draw PokΓ©mon and fully accept it. Don't be afraid and tell them!
About the talented artists, I think you're really stressing and panicking over a thing that you shouldn't worry that much. You see, yeah, there's a lot of talented artists here in dA, but those people spent YEARS working on their pics, developing their skills with art, and probably a lot of them studied art or learned over time. So yeah, it's not like you'll become a professional talented artist in one day. It takes time and practice. And believe it or not, you DO HAVE a lot of time! And actually, a lot of people here like your arts! That's a sign, isn't it? You grew a lot here and you'll grow even more! And so will your skills in art! It's just a matter of time. Also, if you're not EVEN SURE what you'll do in the future, why are you worrying about this??? As I said before,Β you're really stressing and panicking over a thing that you shouldn't worry, you still have a lot of time, and you don't know, maybe you have the opportunity of your life in other job! I would recommend taking your time and researching about what you really want to do in the future. And don't just focus on one thing, try to search more than one, and have them as sort of a backup, in case that what you first thought was good suddenly became bad.

Shit dude.. I.. understand this 100%.. I feel the exact same way.. I have no idea where my life is going and school is so close to ending and I just feel like I'm expected to have my life planned out, but I really don't career wise.. and I'm really struggling to find a job so I can start earning money to put toward my future as well as my future with Nicole.. I really just want to move as soon as I can to be with her and just start enjoying that, but I can't if I don't start earning money and.. I don't want to feel useless.. I want to be able to provide for her and I just don't know what to do.. I have all these responsibilities and liabilities I need to start fulfilling and it's really stressing me out.. I just.. ugh..
Anyway.. it's not so bad.. just take baby steps, no one is forcing you to do anything!
It's your life, you make your own choices at your own pace!
And my art isn't great either, but I have a passion for it, and that's what matters!
Also, talk to your friends.. if they really are your friends, they'll understand..
Just be like "Hey, I like to draw, I draw digital art and stuff."
Don't even have to show them anything, just test the waters with them.. If they like you, they won't care, well, they'll care - but in a good way.. or just won't hate you for it, because - why would a friend hate you over a hobby? Just try to stop being so paranoid and be brave about it.. Sometimes it feels like friends won't understand, but they really will!
