Note:
- The Valkyrie was originally designed to be a small compact strike ship capable of making fast flanking maneuvers while larger capital ships keeps enemies’ focus forward.
It was not what strategist wanted.
What they wound up with was a small size frigate with exceptional speed and maneuverability. However it severely lacks Anti-ship weaponry with only one mass driver cannon and a limited number of missiles that it can use against larger slower ships. One of its saving graces is the fact that the Valkyrie is agile and fast enough to use its M.A.R. Cannon against multiple ships in rapid succession.
Another is its point defense system that allows it to hit fast moving targets (like small asteroids, missiles, etc.) making it ideal for escort missions, patrols, and wolf pack missions. (“wolf pack” missions are when a group of 4 frigates are sent to harass enemy fleets.)
While the Valkyrie was not what strategist wanted it has found its place in the human space fleets.

Yes it is based on the shimakazi class Icarus from robotech. what can I say I like the design.
