Description
This drawing serves two purposes;
1. I'd want a proper profile-photo for Pin
2. I want her scars shown off properly;
Her beak is supposed to be broken, the darker part is the 'interior' of her beak, with flaky parts of the exterior broken off.
The scar in between her eyes isn't too deep, meaning as she gets older it will disappear over time, but is really just an extension of her broken beak.
Her scar across her eye is a badly-healed scar; the stitches were horribly made, and caused by not having proper medical supply when she recieved it. It has been infected several time through her younger years, and there aren't any feathers growing there - so basically, it is 'naked' skin/scar we're seeing.

This is great reference, and hey, it's quite a kick ass profile photo with that amazing cigar.
I love her gaze though. I really couldn't put it much better than what *GreyOfPTA said.

The word 'haunting' comes to mind. There's so much more going on in there than just ice cream and coffee addiction. You can feel> the past she's had.

I like that description... yes, I hope she's more than ice-cream, coffee, jalapeΓ±os and toilet-terrors.

I would certainly hope so.
And I can just hear her saying, "Well, I'm off to punish the thunder bucket."

I really love this, especially her eyes. The coloring is fabulous and the expression is perfect for Pin. This is a great reference as well, for her head.

From a drawing perspective I really appreciate this - a real closeup, explanation/description of her scars and how they work. I'd thought that must have been the case about her beak given that, well, it's not as if they really work the same precise way that skin does.
From a character/artistic standpoint though, this is very interesting, because it's such a harsh portrait and it's also one of the most beautiful pictures of Pintail that you've done, honestly. I think it's in the eyes, and the soft way that she is coloured; it brings out a vulnerability that she doesn't consciously let show.

Thanks, funny thing; I was going for a sarcasm/slightly bitter look, but it ended up incredibly vulnerable. Just goes to show that the little lady is actually very very soft and gooey underneath all that paranoia.

Beautiful work. Here eyes are just lovely, and I adore the combination of pencil-shading and color-shading here.

Her eyes. D: They're so lovely and shiny and slightly suspicious. And she's really working that cigar. XD This is beautiful. Especially, yeah, never go back and line this properly, the outline is greaat the way it is. So soft. And even with the scars she looks lovely. Very well done.

I'm really trying to make her scars look... uglier... but that is easier said than done :S

I really love the coloring you did here and the fact that you left the original linework. I really liked your description of her scars, too.

XD - I sort of had to leave the original line-work - I'm working with a crummy mouse, so to redraw it all on com, would have been impossible; But I'm glad it worked nonetheless.

Ahhhh I love her eyes! This is the shininess I mentioned in the Isis comments. They're just so vibrant and reflect her expression so well. I love the painted look of this whole pic!

Thanks; Yeah, I think eyes plays a ridiculously important role, when trying to give life to a character - I could never be a classical Disney-artist; I really cannot make them black-dot-eyes,without making the character look like a dead lump of sausage. I need highlights for them to work :S
But thank you so much
