Well, it goes like this. It started out that there's something important happening, only to turn out that there isn't, so there's no point to why it's there in the first place.

I can understand people being disappointed by the lack of answers to questions about Spike's origin, but I don't think that was the focal point of the episode. The focal point was the relationship between Twilight and Spike, which I think it pulled off well.
I judged it for what it was and not what I wanted it to be, and I was happy with what we got.
