Description He doesn't super stand out to me like the best pokemon ever, he's more of a gimmick pokemon. It's a fantastic concept though, great execution (although I wish instead of pikachu he had something else, maybe another sea pokemon like Pincurchin or Clobbopus or something, pikachu makes it seem just a bit TOO gimmicky)(also I wish he had a better shiny, but it's not a terrible shiny), it's really a very fun design. I have no clue how it is in battle, I haven't used one yet, and not sure if I ever will, but maybe.

This was more tricky to draw than I though, I'm not terrible with birds so I figured it wouldn't be too bad, but it was hard getting his head shaped right and the eyes, eyes like his are tricky because you want them to look mindless and dopey, but not toooo dopey or else it looks stupid, so you have to find that right balance

Pikachu send the idea of using a Cramorant in ant team directly to the trash can. I like the bird, but I don't like when the designs are forced. The effect of Gulp Missile with arrowkuda (aka over 50% hp) is very strong and goes with the goofy design. I really think that alone was enough. Ahh... whatever.

I like when the Pokemon's eyes seem big at first glance, but are just black dots. Another example would be Kingler's.

I still think it's a fun concept, I wish instead of the Hp difference changing its catch it had a percentage. So instead of if the hp is over it always catches arrokuda and under half always catches pikachu, I wish it just had like a 90% chance of getting arrokuda and 10% chance for pikachu (or rather another pokemon that makes more sense, like literally pincurchin, it would make WAY more sense and it would still have the electric gimmick that pikachu had, they ruined that). So I definitely think it could have easily been made better, but it's still a fun design and concept I think.

Yeah the little dot eyes can be fun to do sometimes!

I would prefer if it wasn't able to catch a pikachu at all, tho. If it was at random it would deter their strategy, so I would just get rid of the pikachu one.

The missile deals 25% damage to the target, and if it is an arrowkuda it lowers its defense by 1 stage and if it is a pikachu it becomes paralyzed. Paralysis is just so bizarre coming from Cramorant. Like... So very much off. Where is the pikachu supposed to come from even?

I actually think that catching a barraskewda would have been way funnier to see.

That is true, but I like randomization destroying strategy lol Metronome is my favorite move because you never know what you're going to get haha That's just me though

Yeah 25% seems pretty high also, like, that sucks to battle against one, seems a bit op to me. And yeah Idk where the pikachu is from, surfing pikachu maybe? haha idk

Oh that's a fun idea! I would have loved if sometimes it was a barraskewda and maybe like those time it dealt 2 points against the defense or something. Or do exactly the same and it's just fun to get the barraskewda sometimes. Yeah that would have been way more fun!

Well, Cramorant isn't exactly strong by itself, so the feel of security the ability gives by being a fixed effect helps a lot haha

The more powerful missile in the form of Barraskewda would work really good at random, tho. Just as if it was a pseudo critical hit haha

If there is anything I can say about this is that, whilst I do love Cramorant and all of its glory so much, I can put it to a side and see the points which others make. I think I actually have to agree with what you and Aalacer have been saying because the one thing that caught me by surprise is the part where Cramorant's Gulp Missile Ability functions slightly differently depending on its current HP.

I knew that Cramorant will be launching an Arrokuda but I didn't know that it will only do so as long as its HP is above 50%. I actually researched about the ability on Bulbapedia before experimenting with a Cramorant of my own by training it, it is funny but even I found it a bit bizarre that Cramorant will end up with a Pikachu if its HP was <=50%. I mean, this is a Pikachu we're talking about here, an Electric Mouse being gorged by a Water/Flying-type Pokemon like Cramorant since most duckling Pokemon tend to be Water/Flying-type. It would've been eliminated by its gorged Pikachu if it had used any Electric-type moves whilst struggling for its life or well...because gorging counts as making contact with the Pokemon, Pikachu's Static Ability would've otherwise paralyzed it! The same goes for all Electric-types or any small Pokemon that knows Electric-type moves or has the Static Ability! But instead, its just stuck in there like its not even trying anything at all.

And as for what Aalacer said about Cramorant Paralyzing opponents there...yeah, I can see their point. However, technically it is Pikachu doing the paralyzing of Cramorant's attacker since its probably releasing electricity as a defence mechanism due to suffering the shock of being gorged by the Cramorant or that Pikachu's Static Ability is somehow working every time Cramorant launches the Pokemon, since Static is natually the only ability for Pikachu and its species, Lightning Rod is its Hidden Ability and so Pikachu with that ability are not very easy to come by. (Especially in Generations VII & VIII, unfortunately.)

Yeah, I understand that, but in a strictly mechanical point of view, Gulp Missile is part of Cramorant, so it is the bird itself who is paralyzing the opponent and conditioning their whole strategy in the process.

According to the pokedex, the pikachu gorged by cramorant aren't releasing any electricity nor attacking due to them still being in shock. Quite lame as an explanation, isn't it? haha

Yeah, it is still weird that it is mechanically the Pokemon that Paralyzes the target due to its ability, depending on if it was in its Gorging form. Even I would've preferred it if the ability was more by chance than conditional means of the Pokemon itself. And I almost agree with the Barraskewda idea and the idea of the ability having set probability parameters for whatever Cramorant will have in its mouth, pseudo Critical Hits sound like an awesome idea and the strategy revolving around Cramorant would be more interesting!

"The half-swallowed Pikachu is so startled that it isn't struggling yet, but it's still looking for a chance to strike back." I just read that now and your're right and I was completely or almost wrong! That does sound very weird! I think FrozenFeather must be bang on with this in that case, Pikachu being the Pokemon in Cramorant's mouth does sound forced. Sounds like you can count on GAMEFREAK to want to always go for the Pokemon franchise mascot to stand out in front of everything just because of that. Not to mention it being a Generation I Pokemon after all.

Defintiely!

Yeah it's true, it's a bit random to have that pikachu. To be fair though, there's part of me that likes it because it's so bizarre, it's just fun

I told you that no matter what you think, no matter what mistakes were made, I'd still love your drawing of Cramorant because you know how much I love your drawings and my love for the derpy duckling would shine brighter than the flaws! Which I do in fact!Β  Β
