Description ok i'm confused with this one. first of all who's ever heard of the term "gumshoe" being used to refer to a detective??? weird, and then second HOW is this a detective??? i just cannot see it.

overall it's not a good design, it's REALLY ugly and boring, it's like yungoos only now we've already seen it so we're even more bored with the design. like when you barf. first you barf and you're like "ugh that was bad" and then you barf again and you're like "UGH when will this grossness end?!?"

The nickname "gumshoe" for detectives come from the rubber-soled shoes they wore. The shoes don't make a lot of noise, so detectives wear them when they go into stealth mode.

If you hate this Pokemon, why did you draw him?

Drawing a character that you don't like makes no sense to me but whatever.

sometimes you do it for the fans, sometimes you do it to learn more about yourself and the character you don't like, and sometimes you do it to stretch and challenge yourself

In old crime-dramas and radio plays,Β  a detective was referred to as a "Gumshoe" hence the name Gumshoos,Β  if you look closely - you can see the tuffs of fur poking out just in front of its shoulders are made to resemble the trenchcoat's folds and the 'mane' is actually representative of the iconic hat you see classic detectives wear.Β  Also its stakeout ability is a clue to that as well because stakeouts are what detectives and police-officers sometimes have when keeping an eye out for criminals.

I know the "Gumshoe" term from the Ace Attorney games. One of the characters is called "Detective Dick Gumshoe".
Β

Yeah, I can't stand this Pokemon (but your art is great). I can't wait to beat it up in Sun/MoonΒ Β

ok i could see that more, i guess i was thinking more like sherlock holmes sort of detective. it's still a big stretch in my opinion. almost as if they just designed it and then said "oh yeah it DOES sort of look like a detective...a little. let's run with that!" idk i might just be overthinking it.

I think it's the behaviour of it as well. It's a stalker, that 'stakes out' (hence its ability) the fields of Alola for Raticate and Rattata, to stop them from eating all the crops. It's a Private Investigator in the case of the missing food stuffs, hehe.

To be technical, the word Gumshoe was used for over a century. Pretty old for an "unknown word", huh?

Second, its overall design. The tufts of fur resembles a cloak's folds, and the rather... joked-about hair is actually in reference to the hats old detectives used to wear. Sadly, its color scheme is a big inconvenience due to a CERTAIN racist heartless greedy ignoramus that's running for president this year.

i've NEVER heard of it, idk if it just isn't an american term at all? i'd say it's at least definitely outdated.

i GUESS i can see the folds of the cloak and the hat, but that's really stretching it...
