these are my sea urchin fakemon i got the idea from the top are attack form the bottom are defense form
these pokemon live in shallow ocean water where they gather in large groups. they have a very poisonous toxin they produce on their spikes which they use to attack foe or prey with. when they are weak they switch to their defense forms which have extremely hard bodies for protection.
the top two are poison/water type
the bottom two are poison/rock type
the first evolves into the second at level 26
they switch into defense form when their HP is less then half

These guys are sweet
But the spikes are usually for defence AND attack
So maybe the 2nd is normal state, but when it gets to half hp then it shifts to the top one, and it's ability becomes rough skin

There should be a way to switch to defense form before half hp is gone. Or maybe that would make it noobish

well the first popped into my mind but i couldn't get an evo for it then told me to make a sea urchin fake and the evo have three heads like magneton so i made this then i thought the defense form would be clever because that is what their dead shells look like

It seems to me like it should actually have FOUR heads, so that its body is a pyramid, allowing it to sit with all of its faces level with the floor.
Sea urchin shells are very interesting. Except they are extremely brittle. If your Fakemon were biologically correct according to what their based on, the spiky one would be its defense form.

yeah i guess it does have the four heads like you said
and that is true but for pokemon i think the shell is a more defense form
