Description a tutorial on how to make/use sock glue so your long socks don't slip~

you can use this without my permission, just don't say that you made it

goodluck&haffun ♥

this is my first tutorial, so...

EDIT: questions you might want to have answered
- yes, as its name suggests, washable glue comes off in the wash
- it holds well if you wait for the glue to dry once the sock has come into contact with the glue
- it's not painful at all to remove, although do it gently so your sock doesn't get damaged

Have you tried this with stockings? Would it work on stockings?

Hey, if you live in a capital city you might've come across one of those $2.80 shops which sell Japanese homewares. Daiso, to name one of them, sells sock glue

I haven't tried this with stockings, but I imagine it would still work! You would probably have to wait for the glue to become completely set first before trying to move though

! It's been a while since you posted this so I honestly thought you wouldn't reply, haha.
Yeah, I live in Brisbane so Daiso is abundant. Thanks for that! I tried searching for sock glue from them before but couldn't any. I'll try searching harder.

Thank you!

Eh, I also live in Brisbane keke *u*

I saw that odd little 'tokyo' shop at market square in Sunnybank carry the same sock glue, but you might be better off just trying the glue-stick method rather than spend all this time searching xD
/sorry I'm not very helpful orz

!!!

Oh, eh. I don't visit Sunnybank often enough. Heh.
I tried the sock glue method and it's perfect! I just got far too anxious whether or not it'll hold if I walked around a bit more. xD
And no, you were plenty helpful! Thank you!

Irish dancers and such do. Without it, the socks just fall after a while.

Should do! Make sure you get the 'washable' kind if you're afraid of ruining your sock(s)

How long do they stay glued for? XD Sayyyy if you're walking around a convention (or the mall!), what's the liklihood of them staying on for long periods of time?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

frozenleaf-junction In reply to AnimatedBeauty [2013-01-19 10:17:09 +0000 UTC]

got a convention coming up? :3

i once wore socks using this method to a school rave, they stayed on pretty well for most of the night event with me jumping around and doing all sorts of things... i just advise that you put a good amount of glue on and wait til the sock-glue bond is completely set before moving around

Yep! I'm going to Convergence in Minnesota ^_^

Okay~ How will you know when the glue is set? Just when you can't get it off anymore? XD

frozenleaf-junction In reply to AnimatedBeauty [2013-01-26 07:19:46 +0000 UTC]

awesome (sorry for the late reply)

yes, push the top of the sock part in contact with the glue gently, and if it does not slide and feels a little crusty, that should be fine

just to be safe though, take a stick of glue with you if you'd rather not be left with loose socks halfway through xD

I usually use Irish sock glue that I buy off of ebay but if I run out I now know what to use in a pinch.

blackposies [2012-02-13 01:55:49 +0000 UTC]

so as long as we use washable glue, there's no problem with glue residue on the sock afterwards, right? it'll easily wash out? and this holds well?

also, is it painful to take the sock off afterwards? = =;;

Normal glue stick is not good for the skin (particulary sensible skins). Use better "Stay It " glue , it's made for this !

(sorry for my english ^^" )

i'm not too sure about sensitive skins, because i just have normal skin :3

i know about the product "stay it" but it's more like... i can't find it in shops, and the shipping fee from buying online is a bit too expensive for my liking
