Description
Here's that model that I threw up yesterday now painted. As far as this character's background I think I elaborated on it in the original upload that I made. She's wearing a set of Military Combat Armour (the surplus kind, thus why its green rather than tan like the sets seen in the newer games) over what *appears to be an Enclave uniform. That gas mask of her's, whilst being made of leather, also have Enclave tones. As for her rifle its your standard sportirised AK, though the keen eyed may notice that the muzzle brake's a bit off. Put that down to it being an alt-history game, as its actually meant to look like its off a German FG-42.
She's made from a Crooked Dice Dare Devil, though I think the only part of the original model that's visible is maybe the shoes, as everything else is clay.

My excuse for using a random bit of wire I had instead of some smooth tube.

But once I read "fg-42" and looked it up to refresh my memory on the gun, I said yeah, I can see it.

Guns that would be great in Fallout's Alt-History setting? A moderised FG-42 with a picatinny rail system.

Ah, ignoring that the FG-42 then went on after the war to be developed into the American M60 LMG (the MG 42 obviously becoming the Russian AK too, if we ignore that those looked just like PPSH SMGs till coincidentally a load of captured German engineers joined the project) .

You're blowing my mind, man. Lol. Some of those guns are familiar to me through either reading WWII books, watching docus, or playing games. The PPSH is definitely in Zombie Army Trilogy.
I was gonna say what about an alt Fallout world where it's based on the 40s ideas of the future, one focusing more on WWII, but that can't be that much different than the 50s ideas. As time goes by, our idea of the future changes. Take Back to the Future II. THIS IS THE YEAR. Lol. But it sounds like there may be a Buck Rogers aspect to Fallout 4. Definitely a Blade Runner thing going on.
If I had to say what my favorite WWII gun is, it's a toss up between a Sturmgewehr 44 and a Mauser or more commonly the K98. I'm familiar with it called simply the Mauser from Return to Castle Wolfenstein. All these names are confusing! The M-1 Garand was probably the best.

Heh, after the end of WWII the US and Soviets stole up all the German scientists and engineers. You can see plenty of German elements in the technology of the Cold War. Like I said the AK was originally just an updated PPSH-SMG. Suddenly though it goes from that to looking like a rip-off of the StG 44. Coincidence, or was it because a load of Germans came along and improved upon their former enemy's designs?
Germany had a load of companies working on the same designs, the same as other countries in the war. The Kar 98 Mauser's its common name though, but that's not say it was the only version of the rifle. Hell even though the K-98K was the standard rifle of the Nazis at the time every time they'd invade a country they'd take their rifles and modify them to be in line with the K-98. So you'd have Norwegian Krag Rifles being modified and being called things like the Kar-98K NA or whatever, which just led to a whole mess...
Heh, and for all the Garand's popularity, the story behind it becoming the US' battle rifle is another case of "what could have been". See it wasn't supposed to be the standard rifle. Nah, yeah it came top in all the trials, but there was actually a Belgium gun which outperformed it. However Belgium was invaded so the US had to compromise. Meh, at least there were a hell of a lot worse rifles out there than the Garand.
Aye, I do happen to read up on articles on Forgotten Weapons.com a lot.
