PS. Thanks for the mpd guide.
It really helped.
I am now up and running with mpd+ncmpcpp and listening to my fav radio stream...

@fsckoff
Cool I will let the developers know.
I look forward to trying your wmfs1 fork.
Have you tried this Debian distrolet using wmfs2, amongst others?

Hi fsckoff,
Would it be OK to use/modify your 'dot files' and nanite theme for our Manjaro Linux openbox edition?

That's cool with me! I'm also working on a fork of WMFS1 that I'm going to be putting on github soon. Here's a screenshot of the WM

Please do! If that works, I will definitely want to make a note of it in a 'fixes' text file I keep.

Basically, any time I help someone fix something either via IRC or forums, I keep it all in case someone else has the same problem later. Makes for a much easier list of things to have them check.

Sorry to trouble you again but mpd/ncmpcpp....
This is giving me some pain.
I think I have all the files in place but how would I play, eg, ,lounge radio.com radio stream...
I get the ncmcpcpp interface up but I don't seem to be able to find / load a downloaded stream.
I guess I am too familiar with moc...
Looked around the web... but maybe I am being stupid.

Any tips would be welcome.

It's no trouble!

this should answer your question. The short version, place the .pls or .asx file for the stream in your mpd's playlist dir and it should appear in your library in ncmpcpp.

Wow - thanks for the comprehensive response!

I am actually testing an Arch based distro at the moment called Manjaro.

This does not have an openbox verion yet so I am looking at what I can put together.
I ran through your configs earlier but got stuck with this zsh issue.
So, what you see in the screenshot is still a work in progress.
Thanks again, so much, for your detailed input.
I have adjusted the zsh conf file for Arch...

btw, toilet is what displays that 'Welcome, obould' bit every time you start a z-shell, or reload your .zshrc with the 'reload' alias.

You'll also want to go through the zshrc and uncomment the aliases for your distro's package manager. Since your kernel is named after your hostname, I am going to take a stab in the dark and guess that you're using gentoo. (or you just happened to compile your own kernel to enable hardware support)

There's plenty of support for most of the popular package managers:

Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/Crunchbang/Anything else Debian-Based:
ainstall - installs packages with apt-get
aremove - removes packages with apt-get
afind - searches for packages with aptitude
aupdate - updates your apt sources with aptitude
cleanup - removes cruft*
orphand - cleans up orphaned packages
system_update - uses aptitude to do a 'safe' upgrade of all packages
affind - uses apt-file to find what package installs a specific file
afupdate - updates the apt-file cache.

Fedora/Fuduntu/etc
yinstall,yremove,system_update,yfind - same as above, but uses 'yum'.
yginstall - does a yum 'group install'

Sabayon
einstall, efind, eremove, eupdate, eupgrade - does all of the same stuff, using entropy

Gentoo
einstall, eremove, system_update, efind, eupdate, - the usual. lol
depclean - cleans up dependencies that were installed for a package that has been removed

Arch
pinstall,premove,pfind,system_update - the usual
aurinst - installs a package from AUR (requires yaourt)
aurfind - finds a package on AUR (requires yaourt)
pinfo - gives extensive info on the package
installedby - lists files installed by a package.
whatfrom - lists what package provided the target file
showorphan - shows orphaned packages
removeuseless - removes cruft*
pacupgrade - runs a script that i wrote that writes a new pacman sources list based on the 15 fastest mirrors (requires script and reflector. script provided on request)
aurpkg - installs a .zx files generated by makepkg

*cruft removal means it cleans up cached files, junk dependencies of removed packages, and all kinds of other garbage that takes up space needlessly on your root partition over time.

I think that about covers all of the package management stuff.. but there's a crapload more aliases and functions in that .zshrc because I use the command line for pretty much everything except web browsing (I'm not a fan of framebuffer netsurf, and that's the only graphically-enabled browser for framebuffer/terminal emulators)

That just means you need to install 'toilet'. It's a free (beer and freedom) application based on figlet.

You can get it here . make sure you install libcaca0 and libcaca-dev before compiling/installing toilet.

Glad you like it! I've had a few comments on my screenshots on some website that I post them on asking how I did it, so I decided to make this deviantart just for releasing my Linux goodies.
