Description
There are 2 types of renders, untouched and postworked. Both require different levels of skill to do well. I think of postwork in 2 ways. One is using filters and actions in your image editing software to enhance the image. The other is talking if much further with brushes, painting, adding details and shadows, basically turning the original render into a totally different image. I admire the later since it's a skill set I haven't really explored or really had much of a desire to.I enjoy the technical aspect of setting up the materials in the scene so that the renderer can do it's job to produce realistic lighting based on its coding. That way I don't have to second guess, or rely on my preferences since the lighting and shadows are how the math works out in the renderer. With postwork, it is all in the eye of the beholder on how things look and behave and what looks good to one, doesn't always look good to another..
Anyhoo, I have had a few people I work with ask me about postworking some of the images i have submitted to them, so I thought I would play with some filters and see what I could come up with
This is the first test image i decided to keep. I liked the effect and it seems to work well on this type of fantasy subject matter
DS, Iray, GF2 with G3 textures, and several filters used for post

Very fine post-work! I like the muted, old-style print look you've come up with here.

Thanks. that was the effect I was going for so I'm glad that is how you see it. I also liked it with the stark, cartoon like sharpness it gave me.
