The K'an'lok-class was built to fill the space left by 2 outdated designs-the frankly ugly Y'mh'ga-class jet, and the aging T'hpoa-class starfighter. It has proved itself in many inter-clan fights throughout it's still-young service history, with it's ability to transition between atmosphere and vacuum safely having paved the way to the future for both spatial and aerial craft design.
